About this deal

The period detail was interesting and I found myself researching a few of the topics touched upon to find out more, which I always think is a good sign of an author who has said just enough to interest you in something and not drowned you in their research! Final thoughts In addition to the Lewis Trilogy, the Enzo Files, and the China Thrillers, Peter was also able to write six standalone novels including his very first novel, The Reporter published in 1978. In this novel, investigative reporter, Colin Anderson, unknowingly puts his life and the life of his assistant, Janis Sinclair, on the line when he begins to uncover what could very well be the biggest international sabotage of all time. Peter’s other standalone novels include Fallen Hero 1979, Hidden Faces 1981 and 1982, The Noble Path 1992 and 1993, Virtually Dead 2010, and Entry Island 2014. Television and Film

Runaway is told as two parallel stories about the same group of men, as they were in 1965 and as they are in 2015. The parts about the sixties in London were just brilliant with frequent nostalgic mentions of the music and events of the day. I enjoyed all of the characters and felt a little sorry that they had not all had better lives. In addition to being an accomplished novelist, Peter has also made himself a name and career in the film and television industries. His television career took off with The Standard, in 1978 which was based off of the characters in his first novel, The Reporter. Peter was then the co-creator and writer of Squadron, a series about an RAF rapid deploying squadron that aired on BBC starting in 1982.

Porém, volvidos 50 anos, dá-se um homicídio que irá ressuscitar o Passado — chegara o momento do inevitável Confronto!... It is astonishing how youthful ignorance can put adversity so easily aside to breed baseless optimism. Trouble is, most psychiatrists like the sound of their own voices too much, it’s what the patient has to say that’s important. Listening is the virtue.

Runaway by Peter May | Goodreads

Everything starts to go horribly wrong for them from the beginning of their road trip. Finally disillusioned, dirty and exhausted, and with very little money, they arrive at their destination. In London their hopes for a music career are dashed and they fall in with people who claim to have connections with the entertainment business. They stay at a place where alcohol and drugs are available. After adventures and misadventures in London, three of the bitterly disappointed young men return to Glasgow.Runaway’ is described in the blurb as a crime thriller but is really a road trip adventure that happens to encompass a crime. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. What’s it about?
