About this deal

Mesh systems might be the best way to get a strong Wi-Fi signal where you need it, but the boxes can look ugly strewn around the house.

TP-Link HomeShield –Provides comprehensive network protection, robust parental controls, and real-time IoT security.

Deco uses its custom algorithms to automate the connections on your network, ensuring the strongest possible signals at all times. On my first floor, I found that the TP-Link Deco X50-PoE almost doubled speeds from that of the X50-5G.

HomeShield provides a series of built-in services that protect all your devices comprehensively with various features for when you’re at home or on the go. View a list of your connected devices with the ability to pause and resume internet access, test the internet speed and prioritize or block the devices. Upload speeds aren’t bad at all, while the HomeShield and smart appliance integrations add usefulness.Conversely, if you’re satisfied with this class of performance, you can get it much more cheaply from something like the Netgear Orbi RBK352. That may sound bad compared to the likes of the Eero 6 Plus, but I’m testing here with just the router.

As a Deco product, it needs to be part of a mesh system, and then it has all of the same security and parental control features of other Deco devices. Premium meshes and routers often promise double that rate, although that doesn’t mean they’re literally twice as fast. Actual wireless data throughput and wireless coverage, and quantity of connected devices are not guaranteed and will vary as a result of network conditions, client limitations, and environmental factors, including building materials, obstacles, volume and density of traffic, and client location. While many router manufacturers require you to pay for parental controls, such as with the Eero 6 Plus, TP-Link bundles generous free controls. If you want a neater installation, the TP-Link Deco X50-PoE could be for you, as it can be wall- or ceiling-mounted, powered via Ethernet. Furthermore, two external antenna ports allow external antenna access which can receive 5G/4G signals more effectively, resulting in improved 5G/4G performance. HomeShield examines your network by scanning and identifying potential risks, stopping them in their tracks before they harm your network. Gigabit Ethernet Port, Deco X50-PoE delivers exceptional multi-gigabit performance to support the insatiable demand for better and faster WiFi.

Use of WiFi 6 and other features including OFDMA, MU-MIMO, 1024-QAM, HE160 and BSS Color require clients to also support the corresponding features. This will work with SIM cards from any network, running over 4G or 5G, depending on what the signal is like where you live. And, as its Ethernet ports aren’t easy to reach once the device is installed, those that want to use Ethernet with a satellite device may find a regular mesh satellite a better choice. The compact TP-Link Deco X50-PoE is much smaller than other members of the X50 family and, indeed, other Deco products that I have reviewed in the past. You’ll need Ethernet or power cables where you want them to go, so this device may more sense for those having a home renovation or extension built.

Traditional broadband or cable installation is expensive and time-consuming for your vacation home, farm, or suburban warehouse. Multiple Installation Options – Place it on a tabletop or install it on a ceiling or wall with the adaptive accessories.
