As you mentioned, the best way to go around this is to test if the issue is the lower magnification or the quality of the optics. This is my first pair of binoculars so I’ve got nothing to compare them with , but I really like them . First “real” Binoculars I`ve owned so not a lot to compare them to, but all I will say is that they are all I could have wished for. I wanted them primarily for bird watching on the Anglesey coast but we’ve also been able to use them for seal spotting.

Very pleased overall, my only gripe is that the neck strap is a little uncomfortable and would benefit from some padding.

Obviously with the small viewing lens you don't get a wide perspective but pretty good for what I wanted. Not great for general birdwatching - too heavy and for a woman, the eye cups are not close enough together. I wanted something lightweight that was easy to travel with, but powerful enough to spot all the great wildlife.

Bought for a trip to South Africa, wish I’d bought two pairs as they were so much nicer than our other ones. She found the binoculars really light and was amazed by the clarity and brightness of the images compared with her old ones.They were great, small enough to pop in the rucksack and great when wearing them as they are a great size. When you are trying to decide which pair of binoculars to get and magnification is not an issue, always go with the ones that have a wider FOV.
