About this deal

The ability to write something new and different without the hype of her name allowed her to remove stress from the process of writing a novel. Of course, Galbraith’s identity didn’t stay secret for long or we still wouldn’t know about it today.

Allen, Ben (30 August 2017). "JK Rowling could write 'at least another 10' Strike books as Robert Galbraith". Radio Times. Archived from the original on 24 May 2018 . Retrieved 23 May 2018. Rowling’s first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was published in 1997. J.K. Rowling did not publish any books for adults until she published The Casual Vacancy in 2011 under her own name which was received with mixed reactions. The UHC, which presents as a benign organisation with worthy aims, has a charismatic leader known as Papa J, some high-profile followers, a lot of prime real estate, and expensive lawyers to rebut any claims of indoctrination or ill treatment. Added to which, it’s very difficult to find any former members who will discuss their time at the farm. Those who can be persuaded talk of supernatural happenings, in particular the apparition of the “Drowned Prophet”, believed to be a divine reincarnation of Papa J’s seven-year-old daughter Daiyu, who supposedly disappeared during a dip in the North Sea in 1995. This is a tale of how the human desire for approval, validation and a sense of purpose can lead us astray

What to Read Next

Strike's personal life is complicated. He has just split from his long term partner and fiancée, Charlotte Campbell, who immediately marries another man. He is closest to his half-sister Lucy (his mother's second child), with whom he grew up, though he has seven other half-siblings (the other children of Rokeby) and one half-brother who is the son of his mother and her last husband Jeff Whittaker. Even his relationship with Lucy is somewhat fraught, and Strike finds himself becoming closer to Robin, who has always wanted to be a detective, than he at first feels entirely comfortable with. What happens now, as they leave the restaurant is unexpected, startling and profoundly disturbing. Strike, has his arm around her waist to steady her after she slips on a slippery floor...."She likes the feel of him, bulky and warm beside her." He moves to kiss her, for the first time--after five years of restraint. "And unwittingly, Robin's expression moved from happiness to fear. He saw it and straightened up again." I recommend that you read what follows after you read the book unless you don’t have a sensitivity to “spoilers.” Robin goes undercover at the UHC and finds much unlawful activity and speaks to Will. She learns that he was not informed of his mother's death and that he has fathered a daughter inside the church.

Seventh Strike novel to publish this September, in the tenth anniversary year of the bestselling series by Robert Galbraith. Robin and her business partner, Cormoran Strike, become drawn into the quest to uncover Anomie’s true identity. But with a complex web of online aliases, business interests and family conflicts to navigate, Strike and Robin find themselves embroiled in a case that stretches their powers of deduction to the limits – and which threatens them in new and horrifying ways . . . The fifth case, Troubled Blood, began filming not too long ago, and is expected to air on BBC One sometime in 2022/23. International distribution and dates are currently unknown, but it seems likely to end up on HBO Max in the US, given that they have the rights to the previous episodes. He works closely with his assistant, Robin, later to become his partner in the series. They solve mysterious crime cases that not only lead to more danger but also challenge his boundaries. I think that this book could have been half the length (with fewer suspects) but it is only marginally longer than the last one, just as the Harry Potter books got longer and longer. This author never runs out of things to say! Personally, by the end of this one I could not care less about the identity of the killer, except that he might turn out to be a psychopath. (I admit that my wife greatly enjoyed taking note of each of the suspects.)

They're especially good for those who enjoy LONG reads with a lot of personal life and character/world building along the way. If you like a pure procedural or puzzle mystery, they may not be for you. Potterheads (fans of Harry Potter) and book readers everywhere are well aware of the series’ world-famous author, J.K. Rowling. But did you know that Robert Galbraith is a penname for none other than Rowling herself?
