About this deal

Suicide Squad was released in 2016 and proved to be one of the DCEU’s most divisive movies. Starring Jared Leto in a minor role as the Joker, the film focussed on the titular squad’s mission to bring down metahuman threats, starting with Enchantress. However, it was Leto’s appearance as the iconic Batman villain that ruffled a few feathers, largely due to those tattoos. In the original version of Suicide Squad by David Ayer, Joker originally was the film's main antagonist instead of Enchantress, operating much more serious against the Squad in rescuing Harley. After the Suicide Squad had managed to defeat and kill Enchantress, her brother Incubus, and her monstrous army, they were all re-imprisoned in Belle Reve, albeit with their sentences shortened by 10 years and their cells rendered more comfortable in gratitude (with Harley notably gaining an espresso coffee machine). This is the first live-action iteration of the character to not receive any kind of disfigured smile or even an extended makeup smile. He is also the first-live action Joker to have tattoos on his body.

Detailing and Precision: Given the Joker tattoo’s intricate designs, it requires a high level of precision and detail. This, combined with the relatively small canvas offered by the hand, can make it technically challenging to capture the detailed features of the Joker’s face or other intricate symbols. Genius-level intellect: Joker is an extremely intelligent and formidable genius, being able to go toe-to-toe with the tactical and detective genius Batman for years, although he did get defeated and captured twice by Batman. Indeed, Joker succeeds in catching Amanda Waller herself off-guard by unexpectedly sabotaging her helicopter (thus nearly succeeding in rescuing Harley Quinn), and later manages to break into Belle Reve supermax prison itself, finally freeing an exuberant Harley. Joker goes so far as to describe himself as "an idea, a state of mind, who executes [his] will according to [his] plan." Hence, his intellect extends itself to his tactical, strategic, deception, manipulative, escapology, leadership, and intimidation skills. Skull Joker: Leto’s Joker had a unique tattoo of a Jokerized skull in a jester hat. A simplified version of this could make for a unique and interesting hand tattoo. For sure character creation is a tightrope. I took inspiration from the current DC comics,” Ayer says. “I find it incredible it’s still such a topic 5 years later. My heart breaks for Jared – he did magnificent work. Most of it remains unseen.”

I own the tattoo idea 100%,” he said in a recent tweet. “It was my choice. Original idea is it would say ‘Blessed’ and not ‘Damaged’. Now having said that — I regret that decision. It created acrimony and division.” Joker interrogates Griggs. "Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. All that chit-chat's gonna get ya hurt." ―The Joker to Griggs [src] Peak human condition: The Joker, as a highly skilled and experienced villain, is in top physical condition (from frequent villainous escapades with his girlfriend Harley Quinn), with him, despite his relatively lean frame, being ripped like a mixed-martial-arts fighter, [11] though he is not even near to Batman's level. Following this, a Joker spinoff film starring Leto was rumored to be in the works in 2018. However, the film never got off the ground. Soon after, Todd Phillips‘ dark adaptation of Joker’s story starring Joaquin Phoenix was released. The film went on to win various Academy Awards including Best Actor. This led to a number of reports stating that Leto felt “alienated and upset” about Phillips’ film and felt he had been strung along by Warner Brothers Studios in regards to his role as Joker.

In a broader cultural context, the Joker’s continual appeal lies in his personification of the shadow self or the alter ego, a central concept in Jungian psychology. His chaotic nature and disregard for societal norms make him an emblem of our hidden, rebellious, or darker impulses that we, as a society, tend to suppress. Pathologically indomitable will: Joker possesses an obliviousness to the danger that makes him invulnerable to fear and intimidation, which is usually Batman's greatest weapons in combat. Hence, Joker does not fear death and will even threaten his own life to achieve his goal or make a point. This makes the Joker the Dark Knight's most formidable enemy. His beloved girlfriend Harley Quinn is the only known individual to rival Joker in this regard. The Joker, as a character from the DC universe, has been one of the most iconic villains in comic book history since his first appearance in Batman #1 in 1940. The character’s complexity, unpredictability, and disturbing humor have captivated audiences for decades, earning him a place not just in comic lore, but also in mainstream culture. This profound cultural significance is partly why Joker-inspired tattoos are so popular. The only predictable aspect of the Joker's criminally insane psyche is his inherent unpredictability: Joker describes himself as "an idea, a state of mind, who executes [his] will according to [his] plan." Hence, given the chance, he will kill again and again, but the how, why, when, and whom he will kill cannot be anticipated, sometimes even by genius detectives like Batman and Commissioner Gordon. His reasons and methods are not necessarily random, but are so quixotic and impulsive they may very well be.

Smiley Face Tattoo: Leto’s Joker had a smiley face tattoo on his forearm. This design could be adapted into a hand or finger tattoo, perhaps turned into a ring-like design around a finger. Damaged Forehead Tattoo: One of the most controversial elements of Leto’s Joker was the “Damaged” tattoo on his forehead. This could be adapted into a smaller design for the hand, perhaps on a finger, to symbolize the character’s brokenness. Joker and Harley laugh in the chemical bath. "Do not say this oath thoughtlessly. Desire becomes surrender, surrender becomes power." ―Joker to Harleen Quinzel [src] Personal Significance: For the wearer, the Joker hand tattoo can hold deep personal significance, perhaps representing an affinity for the character’s complexity, a love for comics or film, or an identification with the Joker’s defiance of societal norms. The satisfaction of carrying this symbolism can be a rewarding experience.

This version of Joker appears to care about Harley Quinn more than his other iterations, appearing distressed without her, later attempting to save her from the clutches of Amanda Waller and being visibly upset when she falls out a helicopter. Ayer has long claimed his original version of the film was superior. “Have you ever had an experience in life that didn't [turn out] the way you wanted, that dragged you, that made you rethink everything?” he said. “I have.” Skin Texture and Use: The skin on the hand is different from other parts of the body. It is thin, has less muscle and fat padding, and is frequently used. This makes the hand a more sensitive area to tattoo, which may result in a more painful experience for the client. Maybe it's the Gotham City in me. We have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns." ― Bruce Wayne to Clark Kent [src]Now, Ayer is sharing his thoughts about a fan theory regarding one of Joker’s tattoos in the film. Read more: Watch Weezer pay tribute to essential workers with their new song “Hero” Though Harley attempted to strike out on her own, the shadow of Joker continued to loom large over her life. During Task Force X's mission to Corto Maltese, Harley threatened the Thinker by seemingly referencing Joker's use of personalized license plates. He also said that DC’s James Gunn has supported the release of the “Ayer Cut”, the long-rumored version of Suicide Squad that’s closer to Ayer’s original vision.

To learn more details, Joker again deployed Jonny Frost, with the latter finding one of the Belle Reve guards, Captain Hunter Griggs, in a nightclub, and subsequently subduing him. Griggs was brought before Joker's goons, and while he remained relatively unfazed, he showed visible fear when the Joker himself entered. Joker circled Griggs, sadistically smiling at the terrified guard (in gleeful anticipation of the ruthless torture he was about to unleash upon him), implying Griggs kiss his ring, then straddling the man and suggesting he could "tell Griggs meant it." He told Griggs he was "Going to be Joker's friend.", before gleefully claiming that he couldn't wait to "show Griggs his toys." Moreover, tattoos are personal narratives etched onto the skin, often signifying a person’s beliefs, passions, struggles, or triumphs. The Joker, with his complexity and multi-layered personality, offers diverse narratives and interpretations for individuals to connect with, making his emblem a powerful and personal choice for a tattoo. A tweet by David Ayer confirmed that Joker is about a year older than Batman https://www.reddit.com/r/batman/comments/mhml2e/if_you_listen_closely_you_can_almost_hear_a_bunch/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Unlike Romero's prankster, Nicholson's mobster and Ledger's anarchist, this version of the character is more of a contemporary gangster. As a result, the tattoo may require more touch-ups compared to those on other parts of the body. Expert escapologist: Joker is an utter genius at escaping unscathed in extremely dangerous situations, despite staggering odds, with him notably somehow escaping from his submerged Smiley Car before Batman dives underwater, and somehow surviving the explosion of the helicopter he was on, most likely due to somehow escaping from it just in time, without Harley Quinn or Amanda Waller noticing. There are risks involved with tattooing, including potential allergic reactions, skin infections, or unsatisfactory aesthetic results. Therefore, it is imperative to ensure your tattoo artist adheres to all hygiene standards and is licensed and experienced. Ultimately, Captain Griggs' torturous interrogation proves effective, as he revealed to Joker Amanda Waller's plan to use Harley Quinn as a member of the Task Force X (with an intended mission in Midway City), as well as the implantation of an A.R.G.U.S. nano-bomb into Harley, as an emergency contingency. Griggs ultimately agreed to lead the Joker into the facility where A.R.G.U.S.' nano-bombs are created. The Joker ultimately also forced him to return to Belle Reve and deliver a purple phone to Harley (through which he could communicate with her, via SMS) before she was deployed on the Squad's mission.
