About this deal

Kelly recalls, “Patty wrote the whole ‘Take It Through The Night’ lyric herself. I had a tiny part of a blues riff and Dwight ran away with it and turned the chorus into a bit of an Eagles and Joe Walsh vibe. We were just in full-on guitar mode. We were trying to make an Allman Brothers record with that one.”

I did a solo tour and they came over to open up for me on that and we started writing some songs in the dressing room" he explains. Patty says, “I was thinking about how we should try to grow right along with them, because they’re still here.” Jones went on: “I think Stereophonics is the type of band and the type of music with a catalogue that’s set in stone plus the new stuff that’s happening. It’s like a revolving door. There’s 12/14-year-old kids in the front row.As Patty says, “It’s an album and it’s meant to be listened to from start to finish. That’s what I’d like for people to do. Listen to the whole thing and see it as a complete work on its own.” We were walking into venues and our production manager would just find us a little room. We'd sit down on the floor, start something and finish something". The only pressure was “OK - Kelly Jones wants to write a song with you, so chop chop, let's go!" says Patty Lynn.

There’s no breaking up with the band or anything,” he explained. “For me, after 25 years of doing all our work, it’s like, I wanna show other sides of what I would like to try creatively.” Opening with a gentle acoustic riff from Dwight Baker, ‘Screaming Hallelujah’ begins with soulful, bittersweet call-and-response vocals from Patty Lynn and Kelly Jones before their harmonies intertwine with an audibly organic bond on the song’s soaring, dramatic hook. As the two singers explain, ‘Screaming Hallelujah’ offers a message of acceptance and grace towards a loved one who is experiencing a difficult period of transition. The song was written and produced by Far From Saints and then mixed by the Grammy-nominated Al Clay (Blur, Pixies). So it's not like that at the end or anything like that. It's just a continuation of different types of music!".

Far from Saints is the debut album by the titular trio Far from Saints, composed of Welsh singer-songwriter Kelly Jones and Patty Lynn and Dwight Baker of the American band The Wind and The Wave, who became friends with Jones after touring with his band Stereophonics in 2013. [1] It was released on 16 June 2023 through Ignition Records. The band presented a new creative opportunity for the Stereophonics frontman, collaborating on songwriting and sharing vocal duties. Stereophonics star Kelly Jones has today unveiled his new band Far From Saints, featuring Austin’s Patty Lynn and Dwight Baker (aka The Wind and the Wave). As much as I've try to do as many different things over the course of 12 albums, it's still kind of branded as Stereophonics.
