About this deal

Read our latest blogs for informative tips and industry insight. Whether you're planning an upcoming family vacation, an outdoor excursion, or looking for the latest ABUS products to keep your employees safe, our key resources can provide you with the right educational tools. Safety comes courtesy of something Abus calls ActiCage, which is a structural reinforcement integrated into the EPS of the helmet. Unfortunately, this doesn't follow the industry trend of offering greater rotational impact protection to mitigate concussion in the event of a crash. Riding experience That structure also means that the one-piece pad does not need to be velcro-ed to the helmet shell. Instead it is attached only at the sides on both temples, and at the top of the head inside the middle ventilation channel. That resulted in no pressure point anywhere across my forehead, and also almost no indentation in my skin, even when cinching the retention down snugly for multi-hour rides. The straps have a neat seam sewn to one edge to reduce flapping and wind noise. I found the helmet to be impressively quiet and, even while descending at over 40mph, there was very little in the way of wind noise. When the glasses were placed at the rear of the helmet, I wasn’t able to feel the legs of the sunglasses. This feature was a considerable improvement from the helmets I had in the past, where it felt annoying to have the legs of my sunglasses poking at my head.

Abus AirBreaker road helmet blends aero, lightweight Review: Abus AirBreaker road helmet blends aero, lightweight

At just 230 grams in weight and with airflow and aerodynamics perfectly balanced, the Airbreaker Road Helmet brings winning performance to your ride. In the hot and humid climate of Singapore, I always tend to want to splash water over helmets with hopes that it will provide some form of cooling for my head. You can’t do this on the Gamechanger as there isn’t any vent or hole to allow water to enter. If you prefer a better-ventilated helmet, the ABUS Airbreaker is a great choice. Thanks to the honeycomb structure of the innovative Multi Speed design, the AirBreaker always offers the best possible aerodynamics and at the same time ensures optimum ventilation. Because the Multi-Speed Design doses the ventilation as it is needed: maximum ventilation for slow, hilly stages, and optimum aerodynamics for fast, flat stages.Effective video surveillance is based on meaningful image data. Camera images are thus not only recorded for later analysis, but also directly derive actions. Overall, the Abus AirBreaker is a great helmet that offers superb ventilation at a very light weight. It's priced towards the top end of the market but the quality is excellent. Verdict Aerodynamic, flutter-free and skin-friendly, thanks to specially developed webbing. Forced Air Cooling Technology

Airbreaker | Highlights | ABUS

The AirBreaker from ABUS is a helmet that effortlessly meets the highest demands of professional cycling. Every three and a half minutes, an accident occurs in Germany during maintenance and servicing work. Ponytail compatibility: this helmet can be worn by cyclists who like to wear their hair in a ponytail Delivery includes The AirBreaker is made in Italy and sells for 250€, in three sizes S, M & L. It comes in around 10 different standard color options (including this hi-vis neon yellow), plus special Movistar & World Champion stripe editions too. The US version doesn’t appear to be available just yet, but we expect it to make it stateside later this year. The Lazer Genesis is a bit more bulbous and its venting isn’t as deep, but it too is a polished performer. The Advanced Rollsys cradle adjuster is a bit more comfortable and streamlined than the Airbreaker’s. Both helmets weigh about the same.

The Gamechanger helmet is beneficial if you spend a majority of your time on flat or rolling terrain such as in Singapore. If you are a racer, this will be one potent weapon. However, if you are just a casual weekend warrior and money is not an issue, I would suggest going for the ABUS AirBreaker instead.A lightweight helmet should make up for the difference in performance with the comfort afforded by the improved airflow, and the Airbreaker is an absolute master at that. If you are involved in a crash, your head may receive a glancing blow rather than a straight-on impact. This type of accident can cause injury to the brain as it moves within the skull, which modelling suggests would rotate along with the helmet shell. And the Airbreaker has some seriously deep channelling – 28.3mm – and benefits from a huge reduction in overall mass. My test helmet (L) weighs just 228.9g (Abus claims sub-200g for the Small), while still meeting international standards.
