FlightScope was the first of the “Big Three” launch monitor companies to come down to the consumer level with their Mevo launch monitor. After the success of Mevo, they released Mevo Plus as a bridge from the stripped-down Mevo to their pro-level X3. In this review, I’ll pit the Mevo vs. Mevo+ to let you know which one you should invest in. In my testing, I found that the metallic dots did not change the readings, but they did keep the Mevo and Mevo+ from missing shots. On Short Indoor mode, shots with unmarked balls were often missed. With a marked ball, a missed shot was pretty rare.

View your data for every shot in a comprehensive table that includes averages and standard deviations. Use your averages and standard deviations to identify areas to improve and monitor progress over time. All of the devices we tested provide ball speed, club head speed and carry distance. It’d be nice to be able to see all 8 points at once, but honestly for what I use it for, I don’t need most of them all at the same time. I would think the larger unit would have a larger radar system and work better from an accuracy standpoint. You can now use the Mevo on the FS Golf App. This is the app the Mevo Plus uses, and it solves all of those critiques I’ve just laid out. I was hoping to get more thoughts on why the MEVO plus did worse in most categories than the smaller MEVO. FlightScope Mevo puts out eight parameters: carry distance, club head speed, smash factor, apex, flight time, ball speed, spin rate, and vertical launch angle.

If we’re being honest, some of the data points are pretty weak. I think I’m on solid ground when I say that no one cares about their shot’s flight time. Also, making total distance a unique parameter if you have carry and roll feels flimsy, as does shot shape. With Mevo Plus, there are two extra steps. As you can see above on the left, there’s a camera that you can use to align the Mevo+ with your target to improve accuracy. You also need to set the tilt, which I found to be a bit aggravating. The monitor won’t work if the tilt is wrong, but it doesn’t tell you which direction to adjust it. This isn’t a major issue and it doesn’t take long to adjust, but it’s a small thing that could be improved. Practice and play with a purpose on your choice of driving range layouts and skill challenging games. Winner: Tie. The set up is almost identical. The Mevo Plus does have a couple extra steps, but they’re short, and they provide the additional data that you bought Mevo Plus for. FYI. In both cases, the connection happens automatically when you open the app.If you want the best of the best, look no further than Rapsodo. It might only give you few data metrics but they are accurate. It comes with a Doppler radar and an application on your phone. The app records all your session data along with your swing which is recorded via video. Depending on how competitive you are, you have the option to compete with others around the world. Whether its long drive or a skills’ challenge, the Rapsodo has you covered. These are just some of the reasons why Rapsodo was crowned Most Wanted Personal Launch Monitor Winner of 2021. The Rapsodo MLM and Skytrak stand out for their simple interface and layout, though Rapsodo proved to be a battery killer when taking swing videos. However, this doesn’t affect the usability of the device at all – it’s very intuitive to use. Is the Flightscope Mevo Data Accurate? Choose up to four views at a time for the ultimate practice, teaching, or fitting experience. Users have the ability to customize these four views to fit their exact needs. And unfortunately, since there isn’t any lateral data, it’s tough to truly get a sense of how your accuracy is improving – especially if the thing you’re working on is fixing a swing flaw like a slice.

If you’re a fitter or teaching professional looking to leverage data, more than likely you’ll need to look at the enterprise solutions. SkyTrak offers some fitting capabilities and the bag-mapping feature (also available in the Rapsodo MLM) is impressive. Virtual Golf 2 is based on the latest gaming engine that provides realistic atmospheric effects. This allows golfers to enjoy the game at a real level. The data you receive is accurate, however, my biggest problem is hitting the ball straight and fixing my slice.When you’re hitting balls, the response from the Mevo is almost instantaneous. You’ll get the read-out you chose based on the above within a second or two of hitting your shot, and the user experience works really well.
