About this deal

Following the Emerald Night, the new 88002 Power Functions-compatible train motor and controller were introduced in two 2010 sets, the 7938 Passenger Train and 7939 Cargo Train. This new motor utilized the universal Power Functions connections, used by all components. The standardization of the Power Functions system meant that any of the motors in the Power Functions line could be used and builders were not limited to using a single type of motor as they had been with previous Lego train systems. As Jamie Berard explained in our interview with him, LEGO is hoping that it will appeal to adults who are not AFOLs, but who are looking for something quirky to display, as well as LEGO train fans. We have combined the instructions for the separate models into one single PDF. Scroll through the PDF to view them all. Embedded in the chassis is gearing which will enable it to be motorised. I will discuss this in more detail tomorrow.

Can anyone who is running a Large motor (PF or PU) with an Emerald Night comment on whether you made any gear changes? While I have zero desire to see the excellent independent parts artisans go out of business, Lego needs to design some real driving rods before any future 'premium' steam offering like the Emerald Night. The continued reliance on bulky, ill-shaped Technic rods is an embarrassment. It ruins pretty much every steam loco they release. Huw I experimented broken dark brown pieces in the Ninjago City, and also in the past, in the Fire Brigade. K10194 Emerald Night Collection was introduced in LEGO shop@home online to include the 10194 train set with a full set of accessories to motorize the train. To be fair, and I'm not saying that it never happens, but on a few occasions that I am aware of, TLG was already working on a similar set on its own before the corresponding Ideas submission, and consequently doesn't approve it in the review stage. Chances are good that this specific set was already worked on in 2017.I'm just surprised that Lego has decided on this particular locomotive as the "next big thing" . While it's appealing to the European market, an American or a Chinese train might have been a better money maker.

Also, why do people always ignore the fact that the Emerald Night was released at a time when many felt the direct aftermath of the financial crisis of 2007/2008 and/or were afraid to lose their jobs? I was at Uni at the time and working 30 hours/week at Burger King. For a whopping 5.60€/hour after the deduction of health care fees and stuff like that. New hires would have gotten even less than that, but we didn't hire anyway. We let people go. Boy, did our revenue go down in 2008/2009! I wanted an Emerald Night badly (well, three, actually) but figured it was smarter to put the money in my savings account, instead. One section of a massive Lego train layout at the National Train Show in Cincinnati, Ohio, July 9, 2005 If you compare it to the picture of the real thing above it becomes apparent that it's not totally accurate, but it's a good representation. There's enough demand for 2 trainsets (one freight, one passenger) and maybe one more freight in a 4 year period. They're too expensive for much more than that.Thanks. It has PU and PF. I have a PU hub connected to a PF XL motor through a homemade adapter cable. I didn't want to buy a PU motor since I'm already heavily invested in PF motors. I like using PU bluetooth when running at train shows. At home PF infrared works fine bouncing off the walls in my room. Lego Train Adventure Rhyming StoryBook: Riding a Lego Train. Authored by Kyle K. Published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform, 2016. ISBN 1-53319-444-0 I completely agree on this - and I must say, it has become increasingly comfortable for me to do so. Folks do 3D print pieces that don't exist - and well, there is good acceptance and even the purist don't comply - as no LEGO piece was harmed. Then there are the professional injection molders - and well, folks go nuts about the quality.

For the Emerald Night, you could also use PUp with the Crocodile's control program in the powered up app. For that you just need a hub (88009 ) and an L-Motor (88 013 ).

Also, there's no need to update the Metroliner. It's the perfect LEGO train set. It has everything. It offers much more play value than 60197 (doors, windows, lights, more minifigs, beds, an engine and a much longer platform) and doesn't look too much like a shoe box on wheels even with it's not too over the top front pieces. All they'd have to do is replace the 9V stuff with Powered Up. Done. I have a Lego Creator 3in1 set, where can I find the instructions for the alternative models? Verified
