I came across some good perfumes since, but never was mesmerized. The problem is that I only notice perfumes on people and very often am uncomfortable asking what the perfume was. The drydown is soft,powdery,musky,ambery and woody and I get some sandalwood,ambery vanilla,musk and flowers. This was a very sucessful blind buy, I am so happy it's in my collection! My bottle is that new one with the metallic cap, and I find it estetically beautiful. I feel it is both timeless and ageless and will fit any season. I can't wait to use it in spring now! But I would say this is one of the safest ways to try a truly ‘retro’ style fragrance. It’s got a vintage vibe that is still palatable in 2023. I wasn’t alive in the 90s but could picture this being the kind of thing my mum would’ve worn then and it being the ‘it’ girl of it’s day.

So initially I said that it is perfect for summer wear, but in fact I find it even better in spring or autumn, it's very office friendly and could really be worn all year round, even in the depths of winter. Floral fragrances have never been my thing. However I have found this to be an interesting exception. This is such a warm comforting embrace... Reminds me of something lacy and it just blends so well with my skin. Cerruti's1881 is the compromise that turned out to be so great that I sometimes forget that it still is a compromise with my usual preferences. It was on sale and I hadn't smelled it since my late teens, when I used to wear it, feeling confident and careless... so I just grabbed a bottle.Somehow, this perfume is both light and very strong. The scent itself is not overpowering, but it is very long-lasting. This was my signature scent for a very long time. It is subtle but strong! and very fresh! pretty scent, a very safe buy that literally subtly strong! It is comfortably old school in the floral cologne vibe it brings to the table with those galbanum, lily of the valley and bergamot notes, but that’s what I like about it. That’s the only thing I like about it because the florals are underwhelming. They don’t do much, it’s easily overpowered. But then again, it is an EDT, a very feminine, lovely and inoffensive EDT. Just not a stunner if you're used to heavier stuff. It's also not long lasting on my skin. It’s a very hard fragrance to describe in terms of notes, but as I say, the image it connotes for me is the cool girl of the 90s but specifically in a hot climate. I think I will enjoy this one more when the weather heats up, as on my skin in January it’s very harsh and strong. I first noticed this scent on a colleague of mine and had to have it immediately. That was 5 years ago and I still love it and keep buying it.

I like the softness and understated elegance of this scent. Something very gentle and kind somehow... wierd description I know but that's exactly how I perceive this beauty. I agree with the person below me, this is definitely a mom scent. It reminds me of my mother in her youth in the kitchen making sesame dumplings...wearing a pretty dress and looking so elegant and feminine. I only thought about giving this a try after seeing it hailed as one of the best all-rounders in a thread. In other words, thank you fellow Fragranticans for blowing my mind once more with your amazing recommendations. I was so excited to get this for Christmas. I have tested it many times in the past and loved it. My sister in law used to wear it all the time and it always smelled beautiful on her.

Anyway, fast forward to 2021, and I had a little bottle, lying around, actually for over a year!! Lol and I was thinking of getting rid of it. I tried it on, one last time, and WOW! Just WOW! |Nino Cerruti, was known as "the youngest of the great classics," opened the first Cerruti boutique in Paris in 1967, on rue Royale I strongly support opinion of all reviewers who wrote that 1881 is non-offensive, friendly, discrete, subtle, office-friendly and comforting perfume for semi-formal occasions and summer months. I find myself falling in and out of love with this one. Now it's love again and I'm glad I can enjoy wearing it.

Well.. I'm disappointed. Far too powdery, creamy and sweet for my taste. I was hoping for some sharp 90s floral, but this is very muted and, to me, old-fashioned. Violet can go either way for me and, unfortunately, it's a turn-off in this scent. But I can see why so many love it - it is indeed very unique. Disappointment a little bit. Soap, creamy. The easiest way to describe it. A little neat, a little something to feel there, especially no note I did not distinguish. Also, Cerruti 1881 is a fragrance which is for sure underrated and pushed aside by recent production, and that is a pity.

It's a soft, fresh and clean scent, but it's actually quite distinctive and stands out from other perfumes.

The first women's line appeared in 1976, achieving the reputation of impeccably elegant style. Cerutti perfumes are made of finest high-quality materials. That is why the perfumer chose a "fleur de lin" note that is Nino Cerruti's signature flower. I sprayed this 3-4 times on my skin, it has now been 6-7 hours and I even showered. It still lingers faintly and that is exactly what I need. Nothing stays on my skin for more than couple of hours. Loving this!! Reformulation, albeit still perfectly passable & palatable, smells strongly of alcohol and then touches on fuzzy mold.) This smells so effortlessly amazing, not aggressive - but so noticeable, not too sweet - but sweet, so clean - but not cheap fresh. makes me fell calm and relaxed.She's got that timeless vibe going on.This is a classic scent,but I don't think it's outdated.1881 is a nice choice for everyday wear.I'd always sneak spritzes of it when I saw testers of it about, whenever I'd smell it, I'd always think of either my sister in law or my mother, I ended up purchasing a bottle of it and subsequently got a 30ml bottle for traveling, it always without fail gets compliments. Compliments range from "you smell so snuggly" to "you smell so clean", whenever I feel low, I always reach for it.
