About this deal

Disney’s Encanto fans of all ages will love this colourful LEGO ǀ Disney The Madrigal House (43202) building toy for kids 6+ years old. Kids can spend time with Disney’s Mirabel and her family in their magical 3-storey house in Colombia. This LEGO Disney buildable toy inspires endless play, with colour, functions and details to appeal to a child’s sense of magic. It’s full of imaginative accessories, including an accordion, gramophone and umbrella, and the set can be played with independently or combined with other LEGO ǀ Disney sets (sold separately). Félix first appears waking up and joining his family for a stroll in the village. In " The Family Madrigal", Félix is introduced, along with his brother-in-law Agustín, by Mirabel. As Mirabel explains that he became part of the family by marrying Pepa, Félix shares a kiss with his wife. Since the day was also his younger son Antonio's fifth birthday and gift ceremony, Felix soon returned home to help prepare for the celebration. As Pepa became increasingly anxious about the ceremony, Félix tried to remind her that the tornado she was stirring up was messing up the flowers. Isabela appeared and helped Pepa calm down by giving her a bouquet of roses, while Félix called her "our angel" and Pepa thanks him. Later on Félix went out to look for Antonio, who had hidden because of the anxiety of the ceremony. The Madrigal's gifts aren't actually random, they're born from their own personal personalities, traits and passions. There's a few small toucan and tiger details are scattered around before we find out Antonio's official gift, including the details on Mirabel's dress, Antonio's dinner plate and on the gift box that Mirabel gives him before his ceremony. There's several obvious Disney references in the film, including Bruno's 'Let It Go' lyric, but it's the subtle reference to the plant growing in the boot that you might have missed.

Fans of In The Heights will have no doubt recognised a moment in Encanto's 'Welcome To The Family Madrigal' that's pretty similar to a moment in 'It Won't Be Long Now'. As people around Mirabel are singing her name repeatedly, Abuela shouts 'Mirabel' and everything stops. A very similar moment happens with Vanessa in 'It Won't Be Long Now'. We love a Lin-Manuel Miranda musical reference! Well, not the magic house bit, but the animators and filmmakers made sure to put lots of their own experiences and feelings into the film to make sure it felt authentically Colombian. While it's not necessarily hidden, the small details might have passed you by on your first watch. Each of the magical Madrigal family members have patterns that signify their gifts. There was also a Dr. John Jamieson that bought an umbrella in Paris in the early 1780s and when he returned to Glasgow, he remarked that “he was stared at with his umbrella.”[8] Many people thought them “a perfect phenomenon” and did not understand exactly how they worked. One man fortunate enough to borrow a newfangled umbrella from a friend on a rainy day, soon found he could not enter his residence with it because the umbrella was too wide. He returned it to his friend stating “this’ll never do; there’s nae a door in a’ my house that’ll tak it in.”[9] It’s hard to miss the rhyme between “Encanto,” which is both the title of the film and a word often used by its characters to refer to the miracle that made a home for them deep in the mountains, and “Macondo,” the town founded by Marquez’s unforgettable Buendia family in the middle of the jungle. A great deal of the vagrancy of umbrellas is owning to their being so frequently exchanged at public places by what is called mistake; that is to say, a gentleman takes some other person’s umbrella out of the trap … instead of his own, which he leaves behind. There is one most notable phenomenon attending these mistakes, namely, that no one ever mistakes a worse umbrella for his own.”[18] Félix's life before joining the Madrigal family is unknown other than that his biological family still lives in Encanto. At some point in his life, Félix met a woman named Pepa and affectionately helped her calm down when she was in a bad mood, making them both fall in love. Felix became one of the few people who gets along with Abuela Alma and over time became close to her. Unlike Abuela's bad relationship with Agustín, Alma immediately accepted Félix as part of the Madrigals and was completely in agreement that he and Pepa would fall in love.
