About this deal

Radiant and wise, Flourish is a book for our times, showing us all the way to live a rich and purposeful life." The World Illustration Awards 2016". WIA. Archived from the original on 23 April 2017 . Retrieved 23 April 2017.

I was so excited to get this book. I LOVE Antonia's magazines, Philosophy Now and Womankind, which I highly recommend! So the idea of getting a glimpse into the brain of the woman who created and produced something so glorious in all the important ways was just too exciting. The Coolest Magazine Covers of February 2014". Complex. Archived from the original on 12 July 2015 . Retrieved 2 September 2015. I particularly admire the way the book is structured, sectioned off in a way that one could read any chapter and walk away with plenty to chew on (although I had more favorable chapters, chapter 10 for example). The chapters don't necessarily build on each other, for the better. When we set up the business the last thing we wanted to do was to work from a lifeless corporate office, so we decided to also set up a tea atelier with a curated selection of books for sale. It means that tea is plentiful, ideas are flowing, and interesting people are always floating about. The Best Little Bookshop in Town, 97 Cronulla St, Cronulla NSW 2230, phone 0420 574 992. Fromm & R.E. Shor,399-443. Chicago: Aldine-Atherton. An article I remember clearly was about decorating your bedroom, and it showcased a series of meticulously-designed bedrooms. The images made me instantly dissatisfied with the look of my bedroom and set me on a desperate quest to make it ‘fancy’ like the photographs in the story. The mystery of time". New Philosopher. Archived from the original on 14 December 2018 . Retrieved 12 December 2018.Having observed these cabin dwellers, however, I am less convinced they have the answer. English philosopher Bertrand Russell believes that most of us are better off working, than not, even if the work we do is a tad dull or monotonous. Work allows us to use our skills and build on something. “The satisfaction to be derived from success in a great constructive enterprise is one of the most massive life has to offer,” he says. For non-workers, in contrast, each day unfolds in much the same manner as the last and, with nothing to build on, they are simply passing time, neither improving, nor building – in fact, they are in stasis. Braude, S.E. (2003). Immortal Remains: The Evidence for Life after Death. Lanham, Maryland, USA: Rowman & Littlefield. Orne, M.T. (1951). The mechanisms of hypnotic age regression: An experimental study. Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology46, 213-25. Rather than telling readers how to flourish, or giving them endless ideas to think about, I demonstrate the concepts in real life – for instance, how I decided one day to suddenly quit my well-paying job to travel to Latin America in search of my ‘ideal self’. My partner and I drove the continent in a van; we decided to rid ourselves of all technology and learnt to navigate life without it. And along the journey, we met people who don’t work – the so called ‘dropouts’ who surf or snowboard instead of working nine to five; we met missionaries in Nicaragua who lived in a forgotten field; an antique dealer in Peru who paints in a ball gown; a hotel receptionist in Chile who is addicted to the internet; a chateau owner in France who is a hedonist, and all of these characters point the way, in their own small way, to a version, or not, of flourishing.
