About this deal

Both my parents, despite being dark-haired we never really that grey. Neither of them ever used hair dye and still only had a few greys. Their deaths certainly gave me a few of my own, but I’m still at that stage where I can pull out the odd one and get away with it. Overall I am impressed with this range of products, I haven’t seen anything else like it before. I am happy with how it has left my hair feeling, there is a slight improvement in the shine that my hair has. I do agree that it adds nice rich tones to the hair and has definitely helped to blend out where my hair has grown out from my last dye job. The information again is the same for this product. The directions for this product are as follows :-

So, I used the John Frieda Defy Grey shampoo and hair mousse twice in a misguided attempt to see what my hair would look like without so much grey hair ( my hair is pretty much white all around my face now as I have been growing it out for a few years). In regards to the Grey hairs it has blended in quite a few of them although they are not completely gone. I did have quite a few very white hairs at the front that are not as prominent now but they are still white. A friend uses a kind of colour felt tip thingy to colour in greys but a) that sounds a lot of faff to do daily and b) I don’t know if it would really be doable on hairs that are white all the way along the strand. Hers are greying from the temples so easier I think to daub a pen thingy over little sections in that scenario but not sure it would work for me. I might try the John Frieda shampoo too, sounds good, does it make much change to the ‘natural’ hair colour?

I have been using this set for the past 2 weeks so far however I don’t wash my hair daily, I believe to date I have used the products 5 times. In hindsight I probably should have taken before and after photos, I forgot to so sorry I don’t have that for you. I’ve been dyeing my hair – mainly to keep on top of my greys – for more years than I can remember. I was somewhere in my late teens when hair colouring was done for fun and feeling ‘grown up’ rather than necessity. But recently I grew tired of the upkeep in maintaining a look of youthfulness and perfection I was far from feeling, so I gave up on the dye. Im just not sure the blonde shade does much for my complexion, plus I'm really interested to see what my grey looks like!Hair is left soft and manageable. If, like me you are trying to hold off dying your hair for now, give this a whirl. Apply liberally throughout wet hair. Lather. Leave on at least 3-5 minutes for the first use. Leave on up to 3 minutes for each subsequent use. Rinse well. To tame and blend away wiry greys, follow with Defy Grey Conditioner. For optimal grey blending results, finish with Defy Grey Foam. After I first wrote about my grey hair quandary, I chanced upon a new haircare range by John Frieda, and it was quite the miraculous discovery. Torn between colouring and not colouring, I realised there was a mid ground solution I needed to give a go, and to my surprise the lovely folk at John Frieda agreed.

For those who are also looking for a low-commitment solution to covering their first greys, the new Defy Grey range is a hassle-free way of helping to blend away whites on brunette hair with less than 50% grey. The clever combination of coffee extract and GreyBlend technology works by depositing a natural-looking brown tone on the pigment-less strands of hair, which then blends with your own shade from the first use.

DISCLOSURE: AD / This post contains gifted product from JOHN FRIEDA. All words, images & opinion expressed is my own. Both the shampoo and conditioner smell amazing to use. Not too dissimilar to a premium fragrance, the divine scent creates a luxurious experience from what could be a mundane task. The silky texture of the chestnut shade shampoo feels lovely too and it lathers into a rich foam easily, and even though the product is coloured, it doesn’t leave a mark on my hands. Whether or not to go grey is, of course, a deeply personal and emotional choice; one that can be defining in how we see ourselves ageing. So when it begins to happen, the most important thing is that we feel empowered to have a choice; to be armed with the right information on how to get the best out of our hair, whatever the shade. And then to be prepared for compliments incoming…

Amazingly it didn’t take long for me to notice a change in my look – definitely after the second wash, my greys were no longer silver but warming to a soft caramel. The sharp metallic glint that best resembled sparkly lametta on a Christmas tree was now gone; in its place, an interesting colour palette of textured browns. Going grey is one of life’s quirks I could happily go without. It serves no purpose other to remind me that time’s getting on – I’m getting old– and even though that message has been coming through since my early twenties, it’s never hit harder than now. I don’t like having grey hair, I just don’t have the patience or sanity to deal with it. If I could just wave a wand and become ‘brunette me’, I’d do it. Maybe I’d look a little less broken. If you do have the first signs of grey or would like to prolonge your dye job I would definitely recommend this range and am glad that I got the chance to try it. This John Frieda Defy Grey Brunette Blending Blow Dry Foam gradually infuses brunette tones to blend away first greys. I don’t wash my hair all that much – once a week, or twice if I’m particularly enthusiastic about my self care. So over the following month (and several washes) my regular hair care was replaced by the Defy Grey. I can’t really comment on these products individually about the effects as I did use them in combination with each other so will give my opinion at the end of this review.
