About this deal

Movement in Star WarsLegion is fast and organic as you send your troopers marching forward. Every unit has a speed which determines the jointed movement tool that you’ll use to move that unit. You simply align the movement tool with the base of the unit leader and move it to the end of the movement tool. The Rebellion is built on hope. With a hero focused army you will have big highs and you’ll be waiting for your moment. You will most likely want a minimum of 2 heroes in your rebellion list. What do I buy next for the Rebellion?

Leia has always had solid support abilities and a decent enough command hand (especially No Time for Sorrows) and now she comes at a very affordable cost after the last points update. If you can afford it and have space in your command hand, Leia is well worth the upgrade over a generic officer. Generic Officer

Create Your Own Army

These units all do something interesting but probably have cheaper and/or stronger alternatives above. Lando This was…a big month for rebels. Every release would become a major staple of the game, and arguably still leaves an impact on the game today. I gave a light touch on what makes each army stand out in my initial article, but I’d like to explore not only what makes the army good but also what challenges you may have to contend with if you fight with this army. Some of these weaknesses can be dealt with or minimized on certain lists, it’s not necessarily a universal experience, just a common one. Strengths Here come the clones! These copy cats are amazing at activation control and allow you to make a longer play for the goal line. Republic armies can be a slow burn army that can take time to see the fruits of you labor. All dates will be using the American release schedule, just for the sake of consistency. If you live elsewhere in the world you might remember the timing a bit different. The set that started it all March 2018 – Core Set, Airspeeder

In its current state the airspeeder is quite solid, it’s just very fragile. Echo Base also doesn’t specifically do anything for the airspeeder (bit of a thematic miss for the most iconic unit from the battle). You likely want to bring two as well, because Airspeeders can be difficult to hit but are delicate, so concentrated fire will bring them down eventually. Let’s state the obvious here: we’re talking about sniper strike teams, not sabs. Sabs got massively hurt by the new wound allocation rules (even moreso than their sniper counterparts) and their offensive profile doesn’t really justify the huge risk anymore. Saber Tank– Aggressive, big, and fast. These tanks are no joke and are a force to recon with on any battle field. Launched alongside the Imperial Transport, it was difficult to say who got the raw end of the deal here. The Landspeeder was incredibly fast, but only transported one model instead of one unit. The problem was that there weren’t really the heroes yet to take advantage of it yet. Operative Luke and R2 were still a few months off, so it would debut without much fanfare. It was an ok weapons platform but as a transport, it would take some time to get there. June 2019 – Sabine Wren

Coordinate: Emplacement Trooper While not as game busting as the Shoretroopers were, the emplacement gun that came with the troopers got a lot better with a slight buff that makes it pretty nasty to go up against now. We’ll discuss it in detail below but there are a lot of reasons this is good. Still, with 4 white dice you’ve effectively got a slot machine. You’ll want someone to hand out Aims if possible like K2 or C-3PO, some electro binoculars or take aim yourself. You got good range so moving up becomes less vital than it would be at range 3. I’d say maybe bring targeting scopes but these guys are still very vulnerable so I wouldn’t waste too many upgrade points on them because your opponent may take that opportunity to dispose of the threat early. Mark-2 Medium Blaster Trooper Ultimately, Star Wars: Legion is more than just a game—it’s an invitation to create an army that only you could have built, gathering troopers, vehicles, and iconic characters from the Star Wars saga and pitting them against your opponent’s army in battle. The first step in building your army is to select your side and choose the units that will make up your army. Even within the Core Set, you already have impactful choices to make with units of Rebel Troopers and Stormtroopers, along with 74-Z Speeder Bikes, an AT-RT, Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker. You may be planning to play out a small-scale skirmish between just a few units or a massive battle, but either way, the units that you choose are the foundation of your army. For newer players, make sure you know that the card has been errata’d these are range 5 now, effectively making them snipers. Which is good because they can’t move. As emplacement troopers you want them to go early to get a standby set up because of their built in Sentinel. Place them on a good vantage point to guard your objectives and dare your enemy to come forward.
