About this deal

The EcoAir DC12 dehumidifier is an excellent option for small houses and flats. It’s great at extracting water at room temperature and above. The machine is also relatively quiet, compared to other refrigerant dehumidifiers, and has a range of useful features. We also like that it has a large 3.5 litre water tank despite the relatively slim design. There are two main types of dehumidifier: compressor or refrigerant and desiccant. There’s some good words for your next game of Scrabble. This comes as standard on most dehumidifiers, but not all. It’s worth looking out for as it’s a very useful feature. Instead of manually setting how much power you want the dehumidifier to be using, you can set the unit to how much humidity you want in the air. Much like a thermostat, but for humidity, the dehumidifier will then work to maintain the set humidity level. This can stop it from using power unnecessarily and also allow a comfortable environment to be upheld. There’s no timer on this model but presumably that’s because the machine is more energy efficient if you leave it in Smart Humidity Mode. The DC18 MK2 will indicate “Tank Full” and shut down when the collection tank is full. This unit also includes an “Auto Restart”, handy if there is any interruption to the power supply. The function will enable an automatic restart when power is restored, remembering the previous setting. When water tank is full or removed, the controls are disabled.

Nevertheless, it’s still worth paying attention to the litre-per-day capacity, as dehumidifiers with a higher capacity tend to be more powerful and suited to larger rooms. Although this may take a little getting used to, the more basic design is likely the reason that this powerful dehumidifier is priced more conservatively than its competitors. This 10-litre Meaco model is actually rather attractive for a dehumidifier and we definitely like the simple top-mounted interface. At just 46cm in height and 30cm in width, it’s not too big either and that makes it perfect for smaller rooms like bath and shower rooms – which is what it was ostensibly designed for. The Compact EcoAir DC18 Dehumidifier makes a decent attempt at combining control, performance, and flexibility; at least as flexible as you can go with this large unit. With a 3.5-litre tank capacity conveniently positioned at the face of the dehumidifier, you are able to access the tank easily without having to shift the entire unit. Sliding the tank out might be a bit rough, but fortunately, there is a lid covering the tank to avoid instances of spillage.A British built dehumidifier that proves to be deceptively potent, with the ability to remove up to 12.1 litres of moisture a day. It features a compact design, that fits into rooms with ease, while the 2.1 litre collection tank isn’t the biggest but is ideal if you’re only interested in occasional emptying duties. The Inventor is also wonderfully easy to use, with a range of controls that include a digital humidity indicator. Offering the flexibility of two fan speeds, and therefore the ability to reduce energy and sound footprint when in low mode. Not seen very often in this class. Also, as a by-product of their energy usage, desiccant dehumidifiers can warm the air in a room. Therefore, desiccant dehumidifiers are also a great choice for cool or unheated conservatories . It struggles in cooler temperatures though – like most refrigerant dehumidifiers. For this reason, we don’t recommend it for garages or conservatories. There are other EcoAir dehumidifiers better suited for these conditions. Home Size You’ll need to choose between a ‘compressor’ and ‘desiccant’ dehumidifier. I recommend a desiccant dehumidifier for UK conservatories. These work effectively in all temperatures. Compressor dehumidifiers, on the other hand, struggle to work well if temperatures drop below 15°C.

Out of the two types of dehumidifier, compressor dehumidifiers are generally cheaper to run. Desiccant Dehumidifiers Like many of the best dehumidifiers, the machine includes a laundry drying function. EcoAir claims this reduces clothes drying time to between two to four hours, although this depends on the type of clothing (heavier items such as jeans require longer). If you’ve had enough of waiting 24 hours or more for your washing to fully dry, the laundry function could be very useful. If there is mild damp, you’ll want a dehumidifier with a 14.5 L capacity for a large conservatory . For small and medium conservatories (up to 45 m²), get a dehumidifier with at least a 5.5 L capacity. For more severe damp, look for a capacity of at least 7.5 L if it’s a small/medium conservatory . For larger spaces, choose a 20 L dehumidifier. Rapid control of humidity & indoor laundry drying. Controls mould, condensation and bacteria growth.

EcoAir DC18 Dehumidifier Review

A standard two year warranty gives extra peace of mind, but at the heart is an extraction capability of 18L per day. EcoAir promised control, and that is exactly what they deliver with this model. The DC18 boasts of an electronic control panel with cleverly designed touch button technology and an intelligent display. The DC12 and DC18 are very similar models. In fact, the only real difference is in the capacity. As the names suggest, the DC12 has a maximum capacity of 12 litres per day, while the DC18 can handle 18 litres per day. Both models have the same size water tanks and include identical control panels. The water tank can be removed from the front of the machine. If you forget to replace the tank, an alarm sounds for approximately 10 seconds. While it’s great that the tank can be removed without moving the unit, it can be difficult to empty without spilling. Portability Some customers claim that the unit is a bit noisy at a higher setting, making it hard to operate overnight

As you might expect from a refrigerant dehumidifier, the DC12 isn’t quiet when on full power. With a noise rating of 43dB on the higher fan setting, it’s probably too loud to have in the bedroom overnight. Some of the parts can be taken apart for thorough cleaning such as the water tank and the filter. The 3.5-litre tank easily slides out of its slot by gently grabbing and lifting it out. As for the filter that traps all dust and impurities, it can be removed by pressing the two clips to release it. The EcoAir DC18 Compact Portable Dehumidifier also has a drainage function to save you endless trips to and from the sink. What Accessories Are Included? The stats certainly impress. It’s a DC inverter model for a start and that means exceptionally low running costs. In fact, Maeco says that the more you make it work, the more water it collects and the less electricity it will use. It's similar to using air-conditioning - if it runs 24/7 it's more economical. Dehumidifiers can make such a difference to the air quality in your conservatory. If the windows are ever wet with condensation, or there is mould or damp growing on the walls, a dehumidifier will help remove to much moisture from the air. Ideally, the humidity of a home should sit between 30 – 50%. Considering its price and size, this is one of the best dehumidifiers for your conservatory if you want a relatively large unit on a budget. It achieves a good middle ground between size, performance and price. litre water tank capacity with continuous drainage option, concealed easy glide castor wheels and washable carbon filter.
