Nowadays, more and more DJs are using VirtualDJ Pro Full to be able to use digital music instead of traditional vinyls or CDs. Still, using digital music doesn't mean you'll have to sit behind a computer and use a mouse and keyboard. For the first time in a Pioneer DJ controller at this level, the output of the master audio is mixed with the sound from the microphone if you have one plugged in. This means you don’t need any external equipment such as a soundcard or separate mixer if you want to add speech or vocals to your performance and route it through your computer. All sounds are sent to Serato DJ Lite so you can stream from there.Enjoy tactile control of various features and effects in the software by manipulating the buttons, knobs, faders, and jog wheels on the controller. Some DJs may be initially off-put by the removal of a traditional cue button found above play/pause. However, in use, the smaller relocated button is quite a nice change. Forcing DJs to get used to working without relying upon the cue, a button that obviously isn’t available on a turntable set-up. This being a “battle” emulation, the mixer is more than just a mixer, of course – it’s also where you’ll find the effect and performance pads, which we’ll look at next. It’s particularly effective with scratch sounds (some are supplied with Serato), and I demo it in the accompanying video if you want to hear how it sounds.

Serato DJ Lite and a USB cable are included free, making it ready to use straight out the box. VirtualDJ Pro Full can be used as a stand-alone software in case of emergency, but to truly unleash its power, you might want to connect it to some dedicated hardware.
