About this deal

What is a desiccant dehumidifier? Desiccant dehumidifiers use chemicals to extract moisture from the air, rather than compressed refrigerants. They are more effective, quieter, and work at lower temperatures than compressor models, making them the best dehumidifiers for damp households. The Zambezi has three fan speeds, so the noise output depends on which you select. On its lowest setting, it makes a noise of just 41dB, which is low. When we set the thermostat to say 22°C our radiators become hot, if we were to put our hands on the radiator later and found it to be lukewarm or cool then we would not think that the radiator is faulty, we would just accept that the room temperature is up to 22°C and the radiator has been turned off by the stat. We know that when the room temperature drops the radiators will turn on again and they will once more be hot to the touch.

Other features include an optional HEPA filter, energy efficient design, humidity selection (30-80%) and front-loading water tank. The machine also has a laundry drying mode and two fan speeds, so you can reduce energy usage and noise when needed.

If you’re fighting humidity in your home, choosing the right desiccant dehumidifier is key to winning the battle. There aren't many downsides to the Dehumidryer. It has a large tank, great extraction rate and a unique motor. It'squite a loud machine on the highest fan settings though. Also, when the tank is full it's heavy to remove. There are two ranges of Meaco dehumidifier. The first is the standard range, which contains models such as the DD8L. The second is the premium range. Premium models, such as the Low Energy, were first released in 2014 and have received a number of awards for their excellent performance. The highest setting uses 600W, however, which is much higher than equivalent refrigerant models. The range of on/off settings and built-in humidistat help to keep energy costs down though. Features

In terms of appearance, the DD8L Zambezi has a bland and unobtrusive white colour scheme – which is usually what people want from a dehumidifier. It’s not the most modern-looking on the market, which is surprising considering the range of advanced features, but it doesn’t look bad either. Want Zambezi to turn on and off at a particular time each day? No problem. Want Zambezi to turn on two hours after you have gone to bed? No problem. Want Zambezi to turn off four hours after you left it to dry the laundry? No problem. The Meaco Zambezi dehumidifier is a desiccant variant. Basically, that means this dehumidifier is better for colder environments - which makes it ideal for use in the winter when people crank up the temperatures at home and humidity levels rise. It's also useful for car owners who don't want humid air in the garage causing their pride and joy to go rusty, or the seats to go mouldy. The Zambezi Z2 features a motorised rotating louvre to help dry spaces faster and has a higher extraction rate using less energy than other dehumidifiers in the range. Not just an off timer, but an on timer, and daily run timer, giving you complete control over when Zambezi turns on or off and allowing you to control your electricity consumption completely. Thanks to a drainage hose, the tank does not need to be emptied and DD8L can be used with minimum supervision. (Drainage hose not included).

There are also three fan speeds (low, high and laundry) along with a rotating louvre. This allows you to reduce energy usage in exchange for a lower extraction rate. While fan speed settings are fairly common for dehumidifiers, this is a useful option to have. Home Size Meaco 20+ Control – automatically increases its fan speed if the relative humidity increases 20% above your set points We also like that the model has a huge six litre capacity. This is considerably larger than most competing models and means you won't need to empty it as often. Easy to use, the digital control panel allows you to get your appliance up and running with little fuss. Should you need to go out and leave the unit running, the EcoAir DD1 will safely toggle between power modes when a comfortable humidity level is reached – preventing the air from drying out.Desiccant dehumidifiers are different because they can work in all temperatures with a consistent performance right down to 0°C! Unlike compressor dehumidifiers there is no compressor, which means no refrigerant making them greener, lighter and quieter than a compressor dehumidifier.
