About this deal

What is your favourite building techniqueor part/sectionthat you’ve incorporated into your Product Idea?

The IRON GIANT was developed as part of 1000toys RIOBOT series of robot figures well-known for its attention to detail coupled with unparalleled articulation. This is the masterpiece toy that all Iron Giant fans have been waiting for! Straight from the classic 1999 animated film, 1000toys is excited to present the new Battle Mode Version of 1000toys masterpiece “RIOBOT Iron Giant”– fully articulated die-cast toy. What is yourfavouriteLEGO theme (current or past)? Why? And has any theme inspired your building style or preference in anyparticular way?It took me a few months to settle on a design that I liked, and thenabout a week to render and edit images of the Giant. The build timewas nothing compared to the time I spent promoting my product, but inthe end, it was all worth it. This week we're (virtually) in California, USA to learn all about Brett Cuviello, aka. BrettCuv. Brett is one of just a small handfulwho has reached 10,000 supporters for the second time with the same creation. His creation was the impressive The Iron Giant - 20th Anniversary Edition. Is there a LEGO designer (official LEGO designer or fan designer) who you are inspired by and look up to? Who and why? Right now, I don’t have any plans to submit any other Product Ideas, but inspiration always hits me from out of the blue. I might even have anew idea for a project by the time I finish typing this… Nope, stillnothing. But we’ll see.

If I could talk to myself before starting this project, I’d tell myself thatthe project won’t hit 10,000 overnight. The last project I had thatreached 10,000 supporters did so in around two months. This projecttook over two years. I’d like to remind myself that patience is a virtue. Have you created anyLEGO MOCs (my own creations) that you’re particularly proud of? What is it, why are you proudit and do you have a photo of it?

What is it about the platform that attracts you? What tips would yougive to anyone who is thinking about uploading an idea? How long was the process of making the project did, and what did you have to research as well. What kind of prep, research and design phases did you go through to produce your creation? At this point, I’ve probably spent a few hundred hours designing andbuilding LEGO Iron Giants. My process starts with watching the movie. It’s one of the first movies I remember watching, and it’s still one ofmy favorites. Then I research images of the Giant. Once I’ve gatheredmy reference images, I start building digitally. Once I’ve come up witha digital design I like, I try to build it! I built my model in LEGO Digital Designer initially, and rendered it witha program called bluerender. Over the last year, I’ve been trying tolearn stud.io, but I find it much more frustrating to work with than LDDever was.

Come up with something that hasn’t been done yet, that you’repassionate about. Projects with a lot of time and effort put into them are also happy to announce the release of the much-awaited second run of our original RIOBOT Iron Giant (Standard Version) ! I’m particularly proud of a LEGO Iron Giant that I built for the LEGO Ideas x LEGO House Display in fall 2018. I’m proud of this buildbecause it is one of the largest MOCI’ve ever constructed, and it wason display at the LEGO House in Denmark. It felt great to reach 10,000 supporters. It took over two years to hit10K, and I was starting to think I wouldn’t reach it at all. Waking up tosee 10,000 supporters was an incredible surprise.and the Barraki are my favorite. Together, there’s an amazing storybetween these twelve figures. The powerful, energy-infused Toa Inikawere transformed to survive underwater as Toa Mahri and battle theBarraki, the creeps from the deep. From the Toa of air’s struggle to livein the water to Matoro’s sacrifice, these awesome, expressive figurestell a story and inspire creativity like no other LEGO set has for me. Our Iron Giant figure is solidly built with a relatively high amount of diecast parts yet features incredible articulation with firm joints that will allow for maximum pose-ability. My interest in LEGO products came about when I was three years old. I remember being fascinated by the first wave of LEGO Star Wars sets, and a few years later when I got my first Bionicle figure, I was hooked.
