About this deal

The 3D knit construction of the DMT KM4 shoes is what stands them apart from others, with the flexibility in the upper translating to a high degree of comfort, which is continued in the sole, where there is enough flex to make walking comfortable. Huge airflow through the upper makes them perfect for warmer days but counts against them for cold or rainy days. They are priced among other high tier models, but none can match the amount of flexibility in the upper that the DMT KM4 offers, which alone will make the DMT KM4 shoes a perfect choice for some. Q36.5, i dont have the DMT's anymore. I did try several sizes of the DMT's before the actual riding with the best possible size. cant remember for sure but that was probably a 45 too. SOLE: Aerated Carbon outsole follows the ergonomics of the foot, to offer support, comfort and maximum energy transfer. Its low profile at the toe section means there are no pressure or pinch points where the sole joins the upper Everyone speaks of the knit uppers of DMT shoes (and rightly so), but it is particularly the outsoles and insole combined that shine for me here. Huge arches, which you will want to press your feet against, as they feel just so comfortable, with some gentle cushioning and a really brilliant shape. These are the same as the KR1s', and you get them at a lower price point here.

There are three main closure systems in use today. The most popular are Velcro straps or wire laces with micro-adjustable dials (Boa and similar). At first sight, I thought that the DMT KR3 road cycling shoes would be a bit long and narrow for a comfortable fit for my pretty average feet. That’s not the case though. The front of the sole unit is wide enough to support the forefoot well and there’s plenty of give in the knitted uppers to conform to your foot. It’s always worth considering what type of riding your shoes are designed for. A lot of road cycling shoes are designed to be ridden in hot weather, for example, meaning they’re very breathable and won’t offer much protection from the elements. ANKLE COLLAR: Soft micro fibre rear with Elasticated rib knit for perfect comfort and adherence to the leg With its full knit construction, DMT have created a very light shoe with great breathability that has just enough stretch to perfectly match your foot shape. Full Engineered Knit upper combined with the BOA Fit System and DMT’s aerated carbon outsole make this a race ready shoe that you will barely feel on your feet.

DMTs propriety knit technology is not only truly revolutionary, but features across their full range, all the way from the highest level down to their entry level models. This means it offers ALL cyclists for the first time, whatever their level of riding, a shoe that fits as comfortably as a glove! Please enclose all your details and a covering note explaining the fault and any other useful details. Unlike the more expensive KR1 shoes, the DMT KR3 shoes utilize a single top mounted BOA IP1 dial closure system. The dial placement is a few inches from the ankle with a traditional two row lacing pattern. Although we’d prefer a multi-zone dual-dial closure system, the single dial design works well with the knitted upper material. As you tighten the shoes the elastic center section compresses and distributes the tension on the shoe. Compared to dual dial shoes such as the FLR F-XX Knit, the KR3s don’t offer as much adjustability in the toe box as much as we would have preferred. The glossy carbon fiber sole not only looks great but it also provides a stiff yet forgiving platform to transfer power to the bike. COMFORT The DMT KR3 shoes combine Italian design with a high-performance and flexible full engineered knit upper construction. Dropping a half size to a 42.5 made the front of the shoe a closer fit and helped even out the pressure, but it would be easy to buy a pair of KR3s which didn’t provide optimum fit and pedalling efficiency, if you didn’t try them first. The European sizing is a better guide to fit.

The sole stiffness: The KR3 is in the middle of DMT’s stiffness range, so this carbon outsole is the next level up from the KR4 and KT4. I can get slight flex while walking on concrete and bearing my weight on one foot, but not while riding. It could be the cleat. The KR3's soles are very rigid. Made with high-end Toray MR-60 carbon fibers, it has nine rigid layers, all oriented as required; in addition to perforations on the insole and two large vents on the toe. Carbon is also placed in the buttress on the heel. The 100% 3D upper is ideally elastic and therefore adapts to all types of feet, whether wide or thin. Comfort is therefore ultimate. Combined with the BOA IP-1 system, the shoe is perfectly held at the feet and becomes ideal for running. The various anchor points are positioned in certain strategic locations, to always maximize stability, comfort and guarantee more performance for users There *were* pressure points around the upper/inner part of the insteps in both shoes (just next to the SH1 logos), and I felt some friction in the heel retention rubber inserts too. I was a bit upset initially thanks to these, and it thus took me a bit to get used to the shoes. But after just a few rides (and in my case some rain which might have helped soften the microfiber a little bit), these were completely gone.

The accessories: My KR3s came with a DMT branded carry bag, BOA screw removal tool, pair of screws for LOOK’s memory system, and a Diamant Safety IIR type disposable surgical mask sample with leaflet. Cycling shoes can also vary wildly in fit (we’ve got a guide to wide cycling shoes) and intended use. It would be easy to throw lots of money at the problem and end up with a set of shoes that don’t suit your unique foot shape or riding style. Whether it’s a jersey that doesn’t fit, or the colour is not quite right, sometimes you’ll need to return items to us. Engineered Knit flexes and conforms to the individual shape of each rider’s foot, offering a truly comfortable and customised fit. Are the DMT KR1s worth the money? They're very well vented, stiff, look brilliant, and durability seems to be good – I've had no pulled threads in the upper or splits where it is attached to the carbon sole. But for a race shoe, I feel the foot should be more stable in the shoe; the movement I found here was most noticeable during hard efforts – sort this and these shoes would be very good. For me, the single Boa is just not as good as a double Boa system. I'd also prefer a stronger tongue for better pressure distribution as the Boa laces dig in slightly when you tighten the dial for big efforts.
