About this deal

My Friends... and Zoidberg: Originally had no idea who Diath was, despite having in depth knowledge of the rest of the Waffle Crew. Slightly averted since he seemingly "gets his sheet" later on though, as he seems to know that killing Strix would give Diath misery. Ironically, Diath ends up being the one to take him down. It’s easy to spot the giff in a room: a group of 7-foot-tall, hippopotamus-headed humanoids attired in gaudy military uniforms, with gleaming pistols and muskets on display. These spacefaring mercenaries are renowned for their martial training and their love of explosives. The portal brought them to the Sewn Sisters' lair, where Strix pretended to be a hag and they negotiated the retrieval of Shemeshka's items and a resurrection scroll in return for more hair. The hags also offered Shemshka's true name or the piece of Diath's soul Shemeshka had kept, in exchange for Strix carrying a hag child. Strix was too innocent to understand what that actually entailed, knowing only that she would do anything to save her friends, but Diath refused to let her. When they later encountered their clones the hags had made, led by the evil paladin of Shar, Strix momentarily fell under a fear spell that made her envision the rest of the Crew as being dead and herself left abandoned once again. Strix also saw Evilyn make out with evil Diath, and she sent a fireball at them out of jealousy, even though that emotion confused her. [14] Character Development II (spoilers for season 4) [ ] Diath's current D&D Beyond character sheet can be found here, although Jared has noted some discrepancies

The second time he shares credit with Strix when they setoff the magical equivalent of a nuclear bomb in Port Nyanzaru's harbor Episode 95 - Specter of the Zhentarim: The heroes get caught in the middle of a gang war between the Zhentarim and the Xanathar's Guild.

Episode 117 - Character Assassination: Diath is put on trial for the murder of Father Sunbright. Jarlaxle Baenre tells him who the real killer was. Mr. Fox's spectacles - pink-tinted glasses owned by the arcanaloth known as "Mr. Fox" (retrieved by the Sewn Sisters for the Crew. Strix's examination identified them as a Gate Key) When the Crew fought over the best course of action to take against Aremag the dragon-turtle, Strix's impulse was to try and save the items the Crew tossed overboard as tribute, even though this only angered the monster further. She dove into the ocean and risked her life to return one of Diath's keys to him. The Crew continued to argue in the aftermath of the bomb, and frustrated with all of them, she refused healing from Evelyn and turned herself into a swarm of rats to escape. She was particularly hurt when Paultin remarked that Strix had "gotten us killed more than anything", and commented wryly when she had cooked his fish that it seemed there were some flames she could control. Despite this, Simon tried to comfort Strix and indicated that he didn't hold any grudges towards her. Strix tried to mend her relationship with Paultin, tag-teaming with him against the storm giants to counter their magic, and later lent him her magic staff to fly on, since he had lost his mandolin. She also tried to restore Diath's confidence, making him a captain's hat and telling him that "the only place that ever feels like home is wherever you are."

Episode 116 - Dawn of a New Day: With Strahd dead, the Wafflecrew visit the Spires of the Morning, but no one is a fan of the changes that Father Sunbright has introduced.

Fourth-Wall Observer: Like Paultin, the Xanathar breaks the fourth wall regularly. Examples include knowing one of Nate's songs, boasting about his challenge rating, and knowing what's on Chris's notes.

The Load: During the first season at least where he spoke little, had about one move in combat, Dissonant Whispers, and spent a lot of time drunk. Has improved with time. To the point that Holly didn’t think the party could take him down when he turned evil through the ring of winter’s influence, though a good part of that was just that he so unpredictable. In the meantime, here’s a super-duper unofficial giff race. I hope it tides you over for now. Put on your favorite Gustav Holst record, roll up a character, and play your hippo with pride! Here's a link to this race in the Homebrew Races section of D&D Beyond. Please remember to turn on "Homebrew Content" in the Character Builder if you plan to use this race! ( Note: a new version of this race has been uploaded since its original release. Please use the latest version.) Note: The default state of the product is circular covering the recorded video when the capacity of the memory card is less than 400MB, the system will automatically cover the previous video, the file can’t be recovered after it is covered, please use this function with caution. The Corruptible: Perkins is determined to give Paultin a domain of dread. He's tried like three times.

Running a Giff as a Foe

No Indoor Voice: Zigzagged. She seems to have only two voice settings, a low grumble, and a piercing shriek. Diabolus ex Machina: As might be expected. She has a store of valuable information to share, and has even been called upon to provide services other than providing information. She often makes things easier, but rarely makes them better. Dying Moment of Awesome: Turns into a sun while being devoured by the Soul Monger, dealing it a hefty blow and lifting the Death Curse from Diath and Strix in the process. I think the ability score bonuses were the part of this subclass I waffled on the most. But I'm convinced that Strength and Dexterity were the right way to go. Several people have asked why the giff race has this stat spread, so I want to show my thought process. Now, in the long run, my reasoning doesn't mean much. This isn't a defense of the decision—I'm convinced of it, I don't need to defend it—but I think showing my process is important to anyone who's considering making a homebrew race. Dice, Camera, Action! was a weekly, live streamed play-through of the official adventure books of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition featuring Dungeon Master extraordinaire Chris Perkins and courageous players Anna Prosser, Nathan Sharp, Jared Knabenbauer, and Holly Conrad. Child Hater: Immediately dislikes any child character. It lightens up a bit after a while, but his initial reaction to children is annoyance and irritation. Episode 6 - All Will Be Well: The group arrives in Vallaki. They meet Rictavio, who interprets Madame Eva's reading.shards of Lightfall (broken double-bladed battle axe emblazoned with Lathander's holy symbol, further empowered as a mace of disruption) (bequeathed by Evelyn, [28] and later reforged by a sun elf smith) [38] Ambiguously Bi: She canonically has a crush on Paultin but she has at least a Pseudo-Romantic Friendship going on with Dee and seemed to be cultivating the same sort of thing with Ireena. She also literally squees when she is saved from drowning by the kiss of a beautiful mermaid. O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When she hugs Ezmerelda just before Paultin executes her with the Sun Sword bronze bell - carried up by Strix and Diath from the bottom of the Waterdeep Sea. It weighs about 30 lbs and looks like it fell off a ship within the last few months.
