About this deal

Others, not so much--like not being trusted to learn magic because you might use it to take revenge on an annoying neighbor. Thomas creates a new Afro-future world that feels steeped in history and lived in by generations of real flesh-and-blood families.

Bookwagon is overjoyed to welcome The Manifestor Prophecy, Angie Thomas’s debut middle grade title, aboard. The Manifestor Prophecy is a tantalizing first installment in what is sure to be a blockbuster series, and a remarkable achievement for a master author in a thrilling new arena. Ineens moet ze op zoek naar de verdwenen Msaidizi, al heeft ze geen idee wat ze zich daarbij moet voorstellen. Antur ffantasïol gyflym, ddiddorol, llawn hiwmor a chalon, gyda digonedd yn digwydd ac adegau dyfeisgar i gadw darllenwyr yn rhuthro drwy’r tudalennau. year old Nic, who has always known she comes from a remarkable (magic) family, finds out that the plot of her favorite fantasy series is actually true and involves her family and … well her destiny.Angie is already working on the second story with a deeper exploration of the twist that we read about towards the end of this book. She is a former teen rapper whose greatest accomplishment was an article about her in Right-On Magazine with a picture included. The story is adventurous, funny, and sometimes stressful - the kids find themselves in many nail-biting situations on their quest. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. Eto, pan maen nhw’n cyfarfod eu hoff awdur, mae popeth y mae Nic yn meddwl ei bod yn gwybod yn troi ben i waered, ac mae’n rhaid i’r ffrindiau frwydro i achub tad Nic.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Thomas ( Concrete Rose ) brings her trademark voice to an action-packed series kickoff rooted in a mixture of African diasporic myth, biblical references, and U. But before she has a chance to convince him to teach her the gift, a series of shocking revelations and terrifying events launch Nic and two friends on a hunt for a powerful magic tool she's never heard of.But before she has a chance to convince him to teach her the gift, a series of shocking revelations and terrifying events launch Nic and two friends on a hunt for a powerful magic tool she’s never heard of…to save her father from imprisonment for a crime she refuses to believe he committed. There’s nothing (absolutely nothing) that I could critique about this book as it was just a delight from start to finish.

It’s the perfect story for fans of HP, Percy Jackson and Amari and the Night Brothers looking for their next thrilling and magical adventure. And the story-within-a-story also worked very well and could be useful to the characters in forthcoming books. There are some parts of the book where I felt the transition were a bit off and it was a tad chaotic at some parts but overall, it wasn’t a bad read and here are the some highlights why I liked the story. It was fast-paced and jumped around from setting to setting (again, so similar to PJO), and the world-building was done really well.

As a white, UK-based reader, I liked both the fantasy plot and the weaving into it of important topics. As you could expect, Angie Thomas is another one of those authors who couldn't be bothered to give some explanations on her inspirations. Nic Blake and the Remarkables: The Manifestor Propheyc follows Nic who lives alone with her father and is a part of an "undercover" magical community. Meeting Nic Blake was a delight and I loved her character from the get go, along with every other character in this book! Although as a white Australian, I'm not the best judge of this, to me at least it felt like this was a great aspect of the book. The gravity of Thomas's world never weighs down the story, which zips along with wit, humor, and sparkling dialogue. There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. They are Manifestors – Black people who have the Gift within them – and who can see vampires, werewolves and all kinds of Remarkables.
