I honestly have not touched this in years, and perhaps wore it only once or twice at the time of purchase.I have about a 1/3 bottle of the old version and it spreads its fragrance just passing by it without even moving the bottle. If you can get Made in Holland versions of either fragrance or even the later ones made by Scannon in France then you will be able to appreciate both in all their glory and in which all the notes listed above are present as opposed to the harsh modern synthetic shadows of their former selves we are sadly presented with today.

Spicier and fresher at first, darker and woodier (mostly vetiver and nutmeg) on the drydown, with a silky “fil rouge” of gentle leather and flowers (I definitely get carnation and rose) providing a really palpable feel of mannered luxury and sophistication. Since Dunhill Blend wasn't launched until 1978, I think we've found the answer to the timeline of the vintage Dunhill's. It bears a resemblance to Cacharel Pour Homme, but I prefer Dunhill because the nutmeg is tone down a bit, whereas Cacharel is very in your face.A real grower on me, will give it some more time before scoring (or until i find a more satisfying scent in this genre). The dry down leans back to a dry vetiver with wood, initially I get a touch of the fir, but it does fade to the backdrop very nicely.

I also find it a good, reliable travel scent that never fails to get me compliments from friends, family and strangers alike.I honestly get annoyed by what often seem like reactionary and sometimes even snobby remarks to the effect that this or that old formulation is better, that this or that new one is a travesty and so on. Although launched in 1984, this elegant fragrance still remains relevant and very much in style for the modern man. I bought 4 while I could and when ever I spray it on, it lingers in the room and its like smelling spices at Christmas, woody aromatic and yet fresh.
