About this deal
The lily of the valley, jasmine and rose predominate, well balanced with the geranium and coriander. Coriander glows like an emerald in the heart and sandalwood creates a woody creaminess gently radiating in the dry-down. When some producer gets the bright idea to remake a golden age Hollywood classic, as painstaking as the set and costume design are, the faces of the actors can rarely, if ever, capture the sense of the zeitgeist.
I don't know what happened to my sense of smell, but the aldehydes and the muskiness makes me queasy. If I'm anxious it brings me in an enchanted wood and the wind lulls me with whiffs of vanilla and benzoin. Definitely one to test on skin as I can see it may not work on everyone like the way I hoped no 5 or L'air de temps would.A floral heart includes wisteria blossom, peony and peach blossom on a base of cedar, amber and musk. I also suspect that this might be one of the earlier bottles because it was giving me a really stinky almost halitosis-like opening possibly from being quite old.
But the real masterstroke is the lingering, ever-so-subtle indolic note; just enough to remind you of the mortality, carnality even, of the grand old Lady. Arpege makes me think of scented candles alongside 100-year-old grand pianos, or maybe an expensive bar of triple-milled French soap in an antique rosewood cabinet. The initial blast of aldehydes dissipates after about 15 minutes, leaving an exquisite bouquet of flowers. Arpége is not a young rebel fragrance, but my wife is in her mid-forties and she is a lot more sensual and elegant with this fragrance than with "whipped cream" or "candy" scented perfumes.
Floral notes combining jasmine, iris, ylang-ylang and roses provide the base for this classic fragrance with earthy, woody depth from vetiver, musk and sandalwood. From now on at Perfume’s Club, you can find products sent by external sellers, always under Perfume’s Club’s quality criteria. this is her signature fragrance, her bathroom drawers is filled with avon products and possibly a bath where theres still an old jar of bathoil marbles.
