About this deal

When one is selected and the 'please wait, loading stream' banner appears, the box becomes less responsive – presumably because streaming places greater demand on the T2-R hardware. Picture quality is excellent, as is the Programme Guide interface, it's really neat, responsive and does the job really well. To change inputs, most TV remotes use a button labelled ‘AV’, ‘SOURCE’, ‘INPUT’, or with a TV icon and arrow. A momentary disturbance in the picture and sound could be observed when playing back an in-progress recording of a live programme and the live programme finished.

That 'given point' is rather variable but I suspect it is related to the start time of the F1 recording. I have a Smart TV which is connected to the internet and through this I can get on demand tv, netflix, prime and a host of other apps, so I chose the T2 because I didn't need it to be connected to the internet.

The T2-r allows you to Pause and rewind live TV, record entire series and even record two HD programmes at once. During initial setup the Confirm Your PIN step has been updated to make it clearer you need to re-enter your PIN. Once you find the input displaying the TV Guide, press EXIT on your T2•R's remote and check if live TV is working. Whilst a recording was in-progress, it was not possible to resume playback, only play it from the start again. Best to pass the broadcast to the TV in native format and let the TV take care of SD to HD upscaling.

You could often see the programs being updated one by one as the data loaded, jumping to a different day caused another visible rebuild. Others, like the religious channel SBN, are live streams with individual programmes listed in the guide. If you need a box that connects to the internet (Wi-Fi) then you'll need to pay a bit more and get the T3. Equally, it doesn't seem to allow playback of files from a USB device either, although (again) this could be my USB stick which is in FAT32.Finding what to watch and record on over 80 channels is effortless with the beautiful 8-day TV Guide. Already recorded programmes are now always shown at full brightness in the TV Guide to make them easier to pick out. For some reason, the “Get Started” manual ignores these ports, but an added leaflet explains that they’re used to update the box’ software. It is much better if I watch a recording while not recording anything else, and SD recordings also seem less afflicted.

This varies enormously, particularly so when recording a number of HD recordings, whilst watching another HD recording. I think it also may depend on the time of day and atmospheric conditions (although I could be wrong), as well as which channel is recording. You can easily set your favourite channels instead of scrolling through loads of channles you never watch.Once you see a show you’re interested in, you can either set a reminder for it – which will pop up once you’re watching other channels – or ask the T2-R to record it. I've managed to combine both Soundbar and TV remotes into this one remote simplifying things greatly as each button is programmed individually. You have to go up or down a channel until a known 'off-air' one is reached; the EPG can then be accessed. A remote you won’t want to put down Our learning remote has a spacious, clean layout and sleek, rounded shape that sits perfectly in your hand.

Split recordings (normally movies in 2 parts) now show the time after the date so the first part can be easily identified. The specification here is basic but well implemented, and Manhattan's new styling is a nice improvement on its boxy designs of old. You’ll always be entertained with 70 TV channels, 15 HD channels and 25+ radio stations from Freeview. Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page.Features: 8-day EPG; favourite channel list; chasing playback; 'retro-active' recording (complete programme in HDD buffer can be saved to your recordings list); simultaneous recording; 30-day undelete function; HD simulcast notification; series link recording; 5. I can’t stress the importance of the speed factor enough – Freeview on many TVs, as well as on cheaper dedicated boxes, is often an excruciating experience due to the interface’s speed. I knew the machine needed upgrading (it wouldn't record a series, had to programme each day separately). The 500Gb Hard Drive holds up to 300 hours of recordings, smartly organised into categories and series. Once set it seems to find the series linked programs, offers the option to record programs in HD if they are available and I've picked them off the SD program on the guide.
