About this deal

Dust jacket with some minor chipping to the corners and spine ends, small closed tear on the top edges, light tanning.

p89-ish – It was interesting to hear about all the trouble that Bond and Leiter’s night out in Harlem caused to the police, the CIA and the FBI. Boucher concluded that Live and Let Die was "a lurid meller contrived by mixing equal parts of Oppenheim and Spillane".The final leg of the tour took place in Fleming’s beloved Jamaica, where he utilized his knowledge of the country so it could serve as the location of the story’s thrilling final act. Bond becomes involved in the US through Mr Big's smuggling of 17th-century gold coins from British territories in the Caribbean.

He is attacked in the warehouse by "the Robber", Mr Big's gunman, and in the resultant gunfight Bond outwits the Robber and causes him to fall into the shark tank. Between January and March 1952, the journalist Ian Fleming wrote Casino Royale, his first novel, at his Goldeneye estate in Jamaica. Housed in a very good or better dust jacket that shows minor shelf wear to the ends and edges and some light soiling to the back panel; a couple of small areas to the spine and flap folds have been invisibly re-touched. During Bond’s customary visit to headquarters, Miss Moneypenny is reduced to a mere paragraph, really not much different than the last time we read about her.He has been pulled out of operations in Paris to join Bond on his assignment as a liaison between the CIA and FBI, since the operation involves both domestic and international affairs, with half the assignment concerning American territory and the other half Jamaica. This was noticed roughly two thirds of the way through the print-run and the artist credit overprinted onto the flap for the remainder of the first edition. Front cover stamped in gilt with Edward IV gold rose noble, spine stamped and lettered in gilt with Jonathan Cape logo in gilt at foot. The two are separated and Bond goes with Tee-Hee Johnson (named for his high falsetto laugh) and Sam Miami.
