I think this WOULD have worked better if their was an inclination of Rob being alive so that this wasn’t so left field. IMO, the twist really took the wind out of FROM THE EMBERS sails, and it essentially sapped away any of the tension//angst that was at play. She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.This author never disappoints on delivering a rollercoaster of emotions and angst through many plot twists, although some were predictable, they still left me in shock. I appreciate the way Aly Martinez managed to destroy my heart one moment, only to stitch it back together with laughter and love in the next one. He was unhappy but trying to be the best father and husband and she was pretty happy even though their spouses were awful people, until they died there were no clues about their sordid shit. Heroine husband faked It better so we can assume the same wasnt happening at her house and she was fine with her husband even though has been some time for them too but for different reasons, like their kids demanding attention.

This book will take you on a heart wrenching, painful, tearful, and joyous emotional journey that will have you rooting for these characters and their much deserved happily ever after. At first I wasn't too sure on Bree, it took a wee while for me to warm to her but oh man, she surprised me in the best way. Their relationship is complicated, Bree doesn't like Eason, she doesn't consider him enough for her best friend.

I have not enjoyed reading anything, I have left books unfinished (unheard of for me), I have gone weeks without reading a single word of any novel. It’s important to mention that as Bree and Eason finally find themselves starting to heal from the fire and Rob and Jessica’s deaths. What I did not expect was just how easily Bree and Eason fell into friendship and support, growing in characters and then falling for each other.
