Famous for its wines made from a blend of red grapes dominated by Tempranillo and Garnacha, or Grenache, modern incarnations of Rioja are bright and laden with red-fruit character, underpinned by sweet spice and vanilla. Tempranillo is a variety of widely grown black grape, and is most famously used in the wines of Spain and Portugal. The grapes undergo a slow and controlled fermentation with periodic pumping over to extract colour and aromas.

All of the vineyards are located less than 10 kilometers from the winery, and the age of the vines are between 20 and 100 years.But experience warns us not to promise that this will always happen, so if you need something by a certain date, give us a ring, and we will do our best to ensure it happens. A group of businessmen and friends of a Gastronomic Society from the Basque country used to come to La Rioja on holiday together, and decided to produce their own wines to go with the local cuisine. Nearly every red wine from Rioja and the Ribero del Duero uses Tempranillo as the heart of their blended wines, and in Portugal, as Tinto Roriz, it is a key component of the fortified Port blend.
