About this deal

When Joe Lynch stumbles across his wife driving into a hotel carpark while she's supposed to be at work, he's intrigued enough to follow her in. At this point, Joe kinda comes to his senses and does what he should have done before — takes his son and tries to get the hell out of there.

Almost immediately things start falling apart for Joe, as he get threatening messages from Ben, the man his wife might be having an affair with, while this same man has disappeared and Joe is being suspected by the police, of having killed Ben. THE CATCH has also been made into a TV drama for Channel 5, starring Jason Watkins, Poppy Gilbert, Aneurin Barnard and Cathy Belton - currently available on Netflix UK.The characterisation also feels a little weak and although it is Joe who readers will come to know the best he is the living and breathing embodiment of a naive, wide-eyed family man who bears the brunt of the childcare with Mel assuming the role of the more independent party. Has Joe just caught his wife in an affair with Ben, one of the wealthiest, successful business men he knows? Taking a little detour at the request of his son, who sees Mommy’s car on the road and wants to follow it, which of course, Joe does. Logan does a perfect job of introducing us to likeable characters with enough humour and honest observations to make it engaging and realistic but then cranks up the suspense, tension, complications, revelations and twists to create a gripping, dramatic and exciting ending.

With a well written and perfectly pitched prologue, Logan hooks you in straight away building immediate interest to find out just what this story is going to be about. Whether you’re hoping to keep the spooky season Halloween vibes going a little bit longer or are ready to dive into a wintry, chilling crime story, this month’s selection of new releases has you covered. Joe's life crumbled around him and proving his innocence seemed impossible unless he could prove Ben was alive. It is nicely paced, well balanced and a damned good thriller with some clever wee twists that caught me out. By the time I finished the book I felt there were more positive things about the story than negative. Brian McAuley’s CURSE OF THE REAPER is a thriller tailor-made for, as his dedication so aptly puts it, the “Halloween people. Lies is a tautly imagined and plotted thriller with a jaw-dropping ending, featuring an empathetic and sympathetic main character in Joe Lynch. His life explodes when he sees his wife with a long time friend and realizes that they might be having an affair.

Gripping, unputdownable and packed with twists and turns from the first page to the very last, this stunning psychological thriller will make you question whether we can ever really trust the ones we love. Although this starts by examining a likely scenario which is perfectly believable and the technology intricacies have been pinned down brilliantly to make most of the story potentially plausible, it all feels rather like trial by technology and social media and for me it did become a little repetitive. prompted by his son who is eager to share his recently acquired award with his mom, Joe chooses to follow his wife. While the premise of the book was interesting, it is also one that has been done many times over so I was looking for it to stand out in some way.Thinking he shouldn’t interrupt Joe retreats to the parking garage to catch her on the way out but when he misses her leaving he confronts Ben instead. Right off the bat, readers might have the sneaking suspicion that LIES won’t be the most groundbreaking book—and they will find themselves justified in thinking so.

Slow-burning yet simmering with tension and suspense, ALL THE DANGEROUS THINGS is hypnotic, immersive, and emotionally-impactful—the kind of mystery you’ll sink into, not coming up for air until you’ve turned the final page. Bloody, meta, occasionally self-deprecating, and always wickedly entertaining, CURSE OF THE REAPER draws inspiration from the world of slasher films to tell a delightfully devious tale of an actor, the silver screen villain to which he devoted his entire career, and the grip that villain might just have on him in the real world. The ending was one I never saw coming, and the entire read kept me on the edge of my seat, especially with its current and relevant topics of hacking and overuse of social media.

It was intense and surreal and utterly amazing, even when I put the book down, even for a toilet break, I was thinking about it and that ending just absolutely blew my tiny mind. Here’s the thing, the author never said William had autism, but he did make a point of mentioning a whole lot of behaviors that, when appearing together, could indicate the presence of this condition. We never actually realize the intrusive nature of that lovely convenience held constantly in the palm of our hand.
