About this deal

These speaker drivers utilise an advanced magnetic field design to regulate the flow of magnetic response, helping to achieve an incredibly smooth response and provide seamless, natural sonic transitions. We found no flaws in the acoustics of the studio: thanks to the broadband panels and diffusers as well as corner bass traps, the sound of the studio was absolutely ideal. Both monitors showed some flaws in the high ranges, but that could be corrected with the High Trim filter. The HS 8s are a high-performance bi-amplified system consisting of a 1" tweeter and an 8" woofer, driven by separate 45 W and 75 W amplifiers and housed in neatly crafted bass-reflex cabinets.

These transducers utilise an advanced magnetic field design that regulates the flow of magnetic response to provide seamless, natural sonic transitions. Each of these monitors gives you a true representation of the sound quality, just as a monitor should.Authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority. Their clarity and natural quality make them excellent for use as home amplified speakers for listening to music or MP3's and they also work incredibly well as amplified speakers for use with musical instruments. This nearfield monitor is perfect for medium to large studio spaces and control rooms, especially those with some acoustic treatment. ROOM CONTROL allows you to attenuate the unnatural, exaggerated low-end that can often occur when speakers are placed next to walls, while HIGH TRIM allows for more flexible control of high frequency response.

I decided to go for studio monitors mainly to avoid external amplifiers and compared to commercial compact systems, audio quality is off the roof. For inputs, HS full-range speakers can accommodate a wide range of balanced and unbalanced sources such as mixers, keyboards and audio interfaces with XLR and TRS phone jacks. A musician, occasional producer and sound engineer, other hobbies include software programming, web development, long walks and occasional DIY. The HS8 will convey exactly what’s going on with your lows, which will help you avoid overcompensating and crafting a muddy mix.

Though unless you’re producing bass-heavy content, HS8 owners may find the sub unnecessary as they are quite capable of producing copious amounts of low end by themselves. In addition to the sharp high tones, the mid-range was concentrated, not pushed into the background at all. By combining acquired knowledge and expertise with state-of-the-art sound technologies, Yamaha's speaker engineering team have examined, then optimised, every aspect that has contributed to making these monitors the most trusted in the business.

You get a decent selection of controls including a level control (+4dB), High Trim switch (+/- 2dB) and a Room Control switch (0, -2 or -4 dB under 500Hz). You can then choose which finance term you'd like to apply for, and change your deposit if you wish. Designed to meet the needs (and budget) of the project / home studio market, the HS8 monitors offer the perfect balance of size vs performance, making them ideal for any mixing situation. I’ve been consistently impressed by the affordability and quality of Yamaha’s kit and these are no different.Acknowledged by professional sound engineers and producers to deliver an unflinchingly honest reflection of your mixes. They’re best in bigger rooms and can’t be placed against a wall owing to the rear ported enclosures. The Yamaha HS 8 studio monitor is not only visually reminiscent of its predecessor, but just like the latter, it has what it takes to be a reference monitor.
