It showed an Among Us Crewmate that looked like business as usual in the front, but it was elongated beyond that to be on four legs with a tail. He had his first story accepted in the summer of 2021 in the Books of Horror anthology, and an alternate version of the story in the Beach Bodies anthology from DarkLit Press. These things along with the fact that there was a serial killer loose in this little town years previous are what had me picking this one up. He co-founded Livid Comics in late 2020, co-creating and writing his debut comic titled Jol (pronounced Yule), a Christmas horror series for all ages.

The other aspect I found odd was a teacher who seemed to be playing a large role to only have that role snuffed out quickly early on. I kept turning pages to see what was going to happen next, despite the scenes that left me trying to read between my fingers as I covered my eyes because of fear or gore.The Among Us account joked in a reply to the Twitch Twitter account that it should be an emote which wouldn't be a bad idea, but the best possible solution for this kind of thing being implemented would probably be a pet. Chances are it wouldn't look right as a skin for a Crewmate since all the Cremates and Imposters in Among Us maintain the same shape and only change certain cosmetic elements to separate them from other players. I felt connected to his characters early on, as if I was part of the gang, and thoroughly enjoyed journeying with them.

He also has terrible dreams of killing his friends, then he wakes to hear scratching on his wall, with the voice urging him to join her - it is definitely a female voice, after all - and to stop resisting. I would only know the difference because of their family dynamic, which was talked about in the book, but there was really no reason to know about it. In fact, that was one of my biggest bugbears regarding this book, it was too much of a collection of influences, one minute it had huge parallels with A Nightmare on Elm Street, and the next it would be a scene from Scream and then a huge similarity to Super 8, this then continues throughout this story. He then tells the boys that Henry Black was not The Black Heart Killer, but rather his wife, Jennifer, who had gotten involved with a coven in town.But somehow the story became a bit tedious along the pages with its premonitions and predictable action. The filming is going well, but one day, they enter the woods to film a chase scene and stumble over something that looks like a grave. The ratings/reviews displayed here may not be representative of every listing on this page, or of every review for these listings. Plenty of emotion is filled within the pages, each main character has good back story about their home life which adds substance to them. During one scene, Howie discovers something strange, covered up with branches and rocks, covered in strange symbols - which Ryan says looks like a grave.

I was also delighted to revisit the 90s as it was in New Hampshire - honestly, it had me at Starter jackets and JNCOs.The repetitive nature behind certain sections remains a bit of a sore spot(repeating the how/who of someone passing away just a few chapters earlier). Once I’ve got time and money cleared, I’m into his newest, Inside the Devils Nest, which I suspect will be as solid a read as this one. I liked the core plot, but I think we’re missing some information because I was left with a lot of questions. Howie and Ryan were the most sympathetic of the group due to home life backstory and feelings of not belonging, even amongst friends.

There were a few missed opportunities to expand on the back story of the coven but overall I loved it and I’m excited to read/listen to more of John’s books! When a group of teenage boys stumble across a grave hidden in the woods, little did they realize that their horror movie would soon turn into a horrible truth. But the seller still responded, and I am certain they would've helped me had the package never showed.They waste no time quickly running from the woods - the woods their parents all forbid them to enter in the first place - for everyone from the time of The Black Heart Killer 20 years ago, knows not to set foot in this particular place.
