About this deal

Yet, as fascinated as I am with women's studies and the cultural changes of the early 20th century, AND French history, AND art history, AND Russian revolutionary history, I've grown enthralled with the story of this fascinating life. Some of her most celebrated designs, such as the two-piece suit, the little black dress and the quilted handbag, remain in vogue to this day. This book provided a great background of her life, which covered her fashion firsts, fashion influences, her childhood, her lovers.

The cover is simply stunning and draws you into opening the pages and this book would definitely look great on any coffee table to peruse at your leisure. I got tired of hearing how pretty much everything reported about Chanel is up for debate because she lied so much about her life. And this book is really meaningful, because it record a true principle in that time in Europe, she also stand up for all the woman. Made with 100% recycled cotton, the paper we use is one of the most environmentally friendly papers. She holds a BA in Journalism, Film and Media and a Post Graduate Diploma in Magazine Journalism from Cardiff University. I liked the incursion into the actual biography of Gabrielle Chanel, including the way the author tries to trace her steps through the web of fake data the woman liked to provide about herself. This book takes us back to when Coco was just a child and explains how her life developed from there. Her work has been published in different publications including GQ, La Repubblica, Yahoo and WI Life (a magazine for members of The Women’s Institute). But I find more things that really fun at the middle of the book, and when I hear her story, I was touch be her story. The Queen of Paris, the new novel from award-winning author Pamela Binnings Ewen, vividly imagines the hidden life of Chanel during the four years of Nazi occupation in Paris in the midst of WWII—as discovered in recently unearthed wartime files. He has authored several biographical novels, including Marlene: A Novel of Marlene Dietrich, The Romanov Empress: A Novel of Tsarina Maria Feodorovna and The First Actress: A Novel of Sarah Bernhardt, which are all a good read. Their fierce competition reaches new and dangerous heights as the Nazis and the looming threat of World War II bear down on Paris.

This is a fascinating and unvarnished look at Coco Chanel (including before she was "Coco") and I learned so many things I did not know. She mixed with the upper circles of society and so many of those she encountered were mentioned in this book, references I found fascinating. Newly commissioned photographs of the selected pieces, together with archival images, capture the design evolution of this fashion icon. Still, if for no other reason that the pics she shows us and the info she presents on Chanel´s childhood, it is a must read! In Coco Chanel, Justine Picardie peels away the layers of romance and myth surrounding the legend of Coco Chanel, revealing the true history of the incredible woman who shaped modern fashion and created an empire of haute couture.

She examines Chanel's enduring afterlife, as well as her remarkable life, uncovering the consequences of what she covered up, unpicking the seams between truth and legend, yet keeping intact the real fabric of her past. As with all our products, we produce the designs in-house and welcome any customisations/alterations, just ask.

The collection of photographs is impressive, but they're placed all over the place and more often than not, completely unrelated to the passage you are reading. We use high quality inks which prevent fading over time thus maintaining deep blacks and colours for many years. Chanel was an iconoclastic entrepreneur, who rebelled against and manipulated gender expectations of her time. According to Chanel, her father left her in the care of two unmarried aunts when he actually placed her in a convent orphanage in the village of Aubazine, where she was raised by nuns.
