About this deal

So a lot of the characters don't have very interesting personalities and the motivations are quite cliché for some things. Additionally, I made sure to read only 1 or 2 (of the 8) stories per day maximum, to prevent burnout. Use the code inside the book and ebook to access the free bonus story and the discounted audiobook edition on our Language Readers Library site (readers. It consists of 8 short stories, all of which are written fairly simply, similar to what a second or third grader would probably read for school reading assignments.

One downside (for some people) is that there are no English translations of the stories, however I didn’t feel that was any kind of limitation at all because of the way the series is designed. I'll keep working through the book, and I'll just use Google translate to fill in where the vocab lists and glossary fall short. An unmissable collection of eight unconventional and captivating short stories for young adult and adult intermediate learners of Spanish. I also felt like each new story really did increase in level so the achievement of completing a story never got old and there was a real sense of reward to continuing. I was then able to understand enough of the story to use it as a godless comprehension practice and learn some new vocabulary.I followed the author's instructions on best practices for reading and found it an effective process. If you’re learning Spanish and enjoy reading, this is the book you need to rekindle your passion for the language and take your Spanish to the next level!

The book says that it's for "high-beginner to low-intermediate" Spanish learners and the material progresses nicely through the sequence of stories. The stories are levelled from A2-B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference and from Novice High to Low-Mid Intermediate ACTFL Receptive Proficiency. In a third a girl becomes invisible and abandons her friends who are cooking barbecue with her and drives her car back to town where she spies on her office and her husband (who apparently wasn't invited). And the words I do know come to me much more quickly - I no longer have a lag like I often did when I started this. I'm not sure if my verb conjugations have improved because my memory is not as good as it used to be, but my vocabulary has definitely increased. At the start of Covid I started taking a private, 1 hr Zoom class a week which I am still continuing. With no exposure to languages growing up, and no special talent to speak of, he had to figure out how to learn a foreign language from scratch. Learning a language is challenging, but it's one of the best things you can do for your brain and your learning skill set.

If inter-medial readers can get past enjoying the velvety cover to actually reading the stories aloud, they will experience some Spanish practice but mostly just fun.

There's a section titled "How to Read Effectively" and "The Six-Step Reading Process," which I found to be really cool. Short Stories in Spanish for Intermediate Learners has been written especially for students from a low-intermediate to intermediate level, designed to give a sense of achievement, and most importantly – enjoyment! My only issue, as another reviewer pointed out is that the book does contain some words that are used in South American Spanish speaking countries rather than what is used in Spain. Stories are broken down into manageable chapters, so you make progress with the story and feel a sense of achievement.

This first volume of Short Stories in Spanish for Beginners would be too difficult for an absolute beginner. Barbara Oakley, PhD, Author of New York Times bestseller A Mind for NumbersShort Stories in Spanish for Beginners has been written especially for students from beginner to intermediate level, designed to give a sense of achievement, and most importantly - enjoyment! However, I wish the author trusted in the capabilities of the readers a little bit more, not language wise but their ability to put together the story in their head, and maybe spent a little more time developing the characters as well as making the stories more complex as you got further in the book. This book is definitely a valuable learning resource and has helped to introduce me to a lot of useful new vocabulary and phrases. I've been pretty conversational from the get go as I've focused on being able to communicate and not on having perfect schoolgirl Spanish. The narration was very clear so all words could be made out and the language used was just right for my standard (not beginner). To be frank I still used translator to translate some words even though the majority of these words I learned before but still not everything you can remember until you practice it in a daily base.
