About this deal

Put simply, Oracular Spectacular is a triumph of modern music, certainly, but also the psychedelic genre. One of the most influential albums of the '00's - it went on to sell over 2 million copies worldwide and was certified Gold or Platinum in over 10 major territories, including double platinum in UK, Platinum in Australia, Gold in France and Platinum in the USA. While it may not be to the commercialisation standard of Oracular Spectacular, this is every bit as eclectic and sophisticated as that album. It features production from Patrick Wimberly (formerly of Chairlift) and Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Spoon, Tame Impala). If this was a vinyl release I would say side one is excellent, starting with "Alien Days" (check out the nightmarish video on YouTube).

You could do a cover on a finger-picked acoustic guitar of "A Good Sadness" and it would be a spellbinding song to listen to. Themes hinting at the apocalypse, drug consumption, the predatory nature of the music industry, young adulthood, childhood, loss, life, and stardom receive a fresh and clever coat of psychedelic paint in Oracular. Totally helped shape a new wave of electro-indie bands and infact bring electro into the indie mainstream! And "The Handshake" measures the weight of Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser's newfound musical success with its costliness: being beholden to a major record label, whom they mock relentlessly in this track. Add all of these things up, and although I can't confirm the source, the 88697195121 is the one to beat. The second album of 2019 from the awesome FOALS, following from Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 1 which was released in March. The panning from left to right sounded not only better in clarity, but did a better job at creating the effect. You could do a cover on a ukelele of "Plenty Of Girls In The Sea" and perform it at parties on the shore.

While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it is definitely one for those that understood the musicianship and profound expression of the anti-commercial esoteric tracks from their debut album. The successor to 2008’s Oracular Spectacular and 2010’s Congratulations , MGMT sees the band continuing to push themselves to expand the boundaries of modern pop music. This is the first band in a while that truly manage to produce perfect pop and remain effortlessly cool.

Yes, there is a code with the album, but the offer for the free download ended on 1/23/09 (it's February 10th 2009, during the writing of this review). After initially recoiling from this album, having commenced my MGMT mania with the expected trio of favorites ("Time to Pretend," "Electric Feel," "Kids"), I slowly became infatuated with and mesmerized by this quirky array of songs.

Definitely a stand out album of the 00s (and definitely a unique band) and should be up there with the likes of Green Day's American Idiot, The Killers' Hot Fuss and Radiohead's Kid A in the best alt rock albums of the decade. MGMT release their fourth album Little Dark Age - the follow-up to their 2013 self-titled album is released via Columbia.Oracular Spectacular is easy to love, Congratulations has Siberian Breaks, which opens all doors at precisely the 6 minute point. Il examine des sujets sombres en essayant de leur donner un aspect plus clair, d'où ces mélodies torturées, sombres et chaotiques, qui rebondissent sur des rythmes leur donnant un aspect brillant. There is a complexity to MGMT's music that is rare and welcomed in today's formulaic, cookie cutter music factory offerings of pop culture.

In fact, maybe in a few years we'll see another release of the album, but only with all the studio channels available so you could do your own mix of the record? The result is a diverse and powerful collection of 10 songs that directly mirrors the duo’s encompassing surrealist view of the everyday. The successor to 2008's Oracular Spectacular and 2010 s Congratulations, MGMT finds Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser continuing to push themselves to expand the boundaries of modern pop music. The inner sleeve has glossy artwork (lots of concentric circles on one side, and lyrics printed on the other side). There'll probably be more pressure for the band to next time bring the melodic bits up higher into the mix. As other reviewers have stated, there are slew of discernible influences in their music, if you choose to go looking for them, but no particular artist or era stands out as a primary source. Newly remastered from the original analog tapes, this 2LP edition of MGMT’s psychedelic rock masterpiece from 2010 is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and features the paradoxical “Flash Delirium. Look no further than MGMT's Oracular Spectacular LP, now available in a limited edition RSD Essentials pink vinyl!
