About this deal

Having gone from the process of going to school, using any pen one can lay their hands on, pens in blister packs, cheap ballpoint pens and the one parker 25 that was saved slavishly for, as an adult, this came as a nice surprise. Never used the converter with it, despite getting one to try it, it just worked perfectly so left it alone. I would like to ask you wich one you would suggest to me, considering that I never worked with this kind of pen.

Thank you Teoh, if I ever have both (which will probably happen) I will tell you how do those nibs compare. I wasn't too fussy about looks, I did think it was a little bland, but quite attractive in a quirky way compared to fountain pens of the time, but what upped the score was the fact it was quite slender, sleek and old fashioned (I thought it looked like an old fashioned dip pen). There are 3 pen caps for each of the nibs (although the top of each pen cap specifies the nib size it is to be used for, each pen cap fits all three nibs perfectly well). The pen gets thrown into my work bag or dropped into my top drawer, not abused just laid wherever it may be needed.I’d like to give it a try on a full-size A4 piece to see how taxing it might be over an extended period. Another downside to this nib is that if I use Noodler’s bulletproof black in it, it doesn’t come out very black because the nib lays down the ink so thinly. The section looks like it could be painful to grip but the pen is light and does not require a tight hold to control it. And as mentioned, the channel is slightly wider, so that the Platinum Carbon Black ink can flow well. When drawing, I look for a pen that has a smooth and reliable ink flow, preferably no leakage (leading to unwanted blobs on the paper) and that’s comfortable to hold for long periods.

With nostalgia, with reliability, with the fact it has never let me down, despite there being pens out there worth hundreds of pounds with gold nibs etc etc etc, this for me, and has been for a large number of years my go-to pen. Fast writing is not ideal with these nibs, not only because of ink flow but because it's hard to keep them properly aligned with the page. The Carbon Desk Pen and Rotring Art Pen are also very good fountain pens and a worthy alternative to more expensive fountain pens. My only slight concern with its feed is that I can’t reach that inner part of the feed to wash it out if ink gets caked in there. And is there a similar pen that is more readily available here in the states theat will perform similarly to this?

It is a specially formulated pigmented ink for fountain pens where the pigments are small enough so it won’t clog a fountain pen. I tried fixing the metal-end back to its plastic body, but I noticed that writing with it was no longer the same anymore – the ink-flow was permanently affected, being rather inconsistent. Ideal for fine drawing, sketching, drafts and good for colouring large areas as they feature robust fibre tips for even and precise strokes. The Lyra Art Pen is a superb, artist quality tool for allcolouring techniques, artistic drawing and sketches.

I did find that broken lines were a little more challenging draw because the ink flowed so readily but again, this is something to get used to rather than a fault with the pen.If you're running a script or application, please register or sign in with your developer credentials here. I wasn't too excited over these two pens as I already have other pens that can produce a similar type of line. Would rate higher, but sometimes the ink stops mid-flow, but that might be something that improves with practice. The extra resistant fibre used in the tip ensures that the colour laydownis always smooth, clean and precise.
