It’s Montane’s mountain fit so is slim fitting and cut really well for when you are walking / scrambling etc. Zip: As with the Fitzroy this is another chunky two-way zip which feels like it'll really last the distance. To ensure added comfort and warmth, the jacket has been filled with PrimaLoft Gold which offers unbelievable insulation by trapping warm air inside the garment for maximum warmth at minimum weight. So as an insulating/waterproof jacket, it's designed to fit pretty snug and close to your body but has enough wiggle room under it for an extra layer on those really chilly days. Each fiber of the insulation is coated with a permanent water repellent which means the filling absorbs virtually no water and dries exceptionally quickly.

To further seal out the elements the jacket features an adjustable hem with a drawcord and velcro adjustable cuffs.

The Buffalo would just be slightly damp on the outside and I’d be perfectly dry and comfortable after a whole day of heavy rain. Though the three jackets are a similar weight I feel (marginally) warmest and best protected from the elements in the Fitzroy.
