About this deal

The other notes give it a bit of an elderly/mothball impression but overall it smells like old money, not a retirement home. Unfortunately its smell is too similar to a toilet freshener (I even used it for that purpose a couple of times. Penhaligon’s Blenheim Palace takes its name from the seat of one of England’s most respected bloodlines, Blenheim Bouquet is a bracing mix of citrus oils, spices and woods. Fresh, invigorating, sparkly for the mature male with a sense of egotism for the finer things in life much like the Duke of Marlborough from Blenheim Castle whom it was made for. Smells identical to those hot lemon flannels they bring you after the main course at Indian restaurants.

In my opinion, Blenheim Bouquet has one of the greatest, most beautiful and uplifting openings I've ever tried. Its severity and seriousness was very precisely suited to the broken spirits of all and sundry: Encouraging to those who "kept calm, and carried on. I was looking for a Summertime Pine fragrance, so I purchased Creed Epicea, Dior Granville, and Byredo Gypsy Water. I'm in the fortunate position of having a dishwasher, and Blenheim Bouquet's citrus, on opening, is almost a like-for-like trade for its rinse aid. Blenheim Bouquet was created by Mr Penhaligon for the Duke of Marlborough in 1902 and named after Blenheim Palace.

Ideal to wear right after a bath, thanks to its refreshing effect, Blenheim Bouquet is the ideal fragrance for aficionados of clean and citrusy scents. Although favoured by gentleman during the 20 th century in 2017 this is a perfectly gender-neutral scent of fresh citrus peel and woody plants. Literally, that's what Penhaligon's legendary and storied Blenheim Bouquet smells like on my skin: Paper, lemony citrus and pepper. I took my sample on holiday but I was traveling with my dad who, being used to cheap cologne, helped finish (waste) it in 2 or 3 days.

It might make a great gift because of its associations with the British nobility, although you can get other quite similar fragrances probably for much cheaper. This year, I thought of how beautiful the morning was, and marveled at how that September would be the very last one like it: The beauty of innocence and the thrill and promise of early Fall in New York City, where everything was possible. This would be great on a hot summers day and any man wearing this is welcome into my personal olfactory space anytime. I would say that Blenheim Bouquet is not a young man scent but something for the more mature and distinguished gent, (40+).

Just wait 15 minutes or so before you walk outside with it, or you are going to have some stoners with the munchies following you looking for fruit loops. Really well composed, it is of course a citrus dominant scent but I don’t find it astringent, in fact it’s soft in an assertive way. Finally, the packaging is a reflection of the bottle itself with a fleur-de-lys motif and golden stripes.
