Universal Serial Bus (USB) was developed in the 1990s in an effort to simplify the connections between computers and peripheral devices.
The USB specification also defines limits to the size of a connecting device in the area around its plug, so that adjacent ports are not blocked.Although USB Type A is still the most used connector, the USB Type C are becoming increasingly more popular. Most computers that are built today come with several USB ports, and USB is the interface of choice for most home and office peripherals including printers, cameras, modems, and portable storage devices. USB-PD A and B plugs have a mechanical mark while Micro plugs have a resistor or capacitor attached to the ID pin indicating the cable capability.
