When we arrested her, she was covered in blood—it was all over her body, in her hair—so when you come to the station, you should bring a change of clothes.” Filled with more three-dimensional characters than any other book I have read recently, Palmer truly brings the reader inside the world of this story. Of course, there is a main character, but rather than everyone else simply playing the role they have in that main character’s life we get to see and know about the lives, thoughts, and feelings of those other characters as well. For instance, we don’t just see the doctor in the psychiatric hospital solely in his role as it relates to Grace’s daughter. We learn about him beyond this position and see some of what his life is like apart from who he is in Grace and her daughter’s story. It helps the reader understand the motivations of some characters, but also creates a more vivid world for the reader to drop in to. A psychological thriller with a totally unreliable narrator, THE PERFECT DAUGHTER is the perfect read for fans of this genre and will have you guessing and second guessing just what is real and what is imagined.

Have you noticed any changes in her behavior lately? Have you seen any anger, withdrawal, anything different?” When we arrested her, she was covered in blood—it was all over her body, in her hair—so when you come to the station, you should bring a change of clothes.…there are no visible wounds on Penny. But the victim was found deceased at the scene, and we believe it’s the victim’s blood on your daughter’s body.” I know what you did. Now you’re going to do something for me.” Everyone’s worst nightmare come true. Be mindful. Think about your own personal life, as well as the relationship you share with family, including parents. What aspects could be made more comfortable, productive, or enjoyable? Below are exercises in mindfulness that can help you be a better daughter:

Not sure I’d say it was a mother’s love that motivated the outcomes of her actions as the blurb indicates but I think her reactions seemed very realistic and relatable. Show them you've moved past any embarrassment you felt as a teen. Now you feel it is important for the people in your life to know them. And vice versa.

Jess, caught in the middle, doesn't know who to believe or trust. And then Adam vanishes without a trace. I received an advance copy to read and review from St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley. The Perfect Daughter is now available, and there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy it more than I did.

And then Jess' world falls apart when Adam disappears...feared dead. Both her and her mother are questioned by the police after Adam's van was found having plunged over a cliff with Adam nowhere to be found. Was it suicide, accident or something more sinister? All eyes begin to fall on Jess as she is called in for questioning several times and what with her history, her suspicious behaviour and apparent memory problems, Jess even begins to question herself. Did she do this? The question was, Who was terrorising Jennifer and why? What was their end game? How far will Jennifer be prepared to go to protect her secrets?

I have no choice but to obey. Because if I go to the police, come clean about what I did to protect my girl, all the questions and prying eyes would soon discover Katie’s secret too. And that would tear her life apart. Grace had handwritten important details. Clues, Annie called them. Apparently good ole Gracey has never heard of clues. Amazing. The twists were placed in the second half, and they made the prose balanced. I could guess it, but it was still entertaining to read.Grace used one hand to grip the doorframe while the other went to her chest, where she could feel her heart beating way too fast. A young woman has been accused of murder. When the cops come to inform her adoptive mother, Grace, she is devastated.

On the other hand, Adam can see that Abigail has an strong constant hold on Jessica's life and encourages her to break free from the manipulation of her mother. Will Jessica break free or will a new can of worm open up, when Adam suddenly goes missing and Jess becomes the police's prime suspect... First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. THE PERFECT DAUGHTER is a fast paced addictive thriller that I read in a day as I pondered Jennifer's bad decisions and her predicament. The well-written plot is certainly compelling and tension-filled from start to finish though it does lag a little in the middle with Jennifer consumed with mainly thoughts about her and how her decisions affect her. She wasn't someone I was endeared to but I could understand her predicament should I ever find myself in the same situation...although I would like to think that I would do the right thing regardless of the outcome. Because it would be far worse in the long run if I didn't...as Jennifer is surely bound to find out. Having dispensed with the sordid details of Nat letting loose in her frolic with young Sam, the filmmakers focus on the father-daughter relationship. True to form, the carpenter father Marty is a virtual saint in his response to his daughter's transgression. He thoroughly investigates the very real possibility that Nat was raped, thereby incurring her anger and estrangement.

Just a weird ass, illogical story with dumb characters. This is a cool premise but the execution was like Michael Scott's school for tots. None of this was conceivable the day Penny came into her life. Then, it seemed like a miracle. Penny was found abandoned, with a mysterious past, and it felt like fate brought Penny to her, and her husband Arthur. But as she grew, Penny’s actions grew more disturbing, and different “personalities” emerged. A totally benign story and I expected that with a typical Life-Time film, there would be a series of murders with victims such as the girl who lost the high school treasurer election to our heroine. I was satisfied with the ending if a bit farfetched. At least the events were given a logical explanation, not that they would happen in the real world, but I was content with how was the story wrapped up.
