Because of the over saturation of Star Wars on the market, I am always surprised to see something new come out. I mean, really, how much more can we take? And just when I thought I had seen everything, out come the “pods”. Star Wars Fighter Pods is certainly “new” as a product and that is more than enough to get my little geeks excited, but not me. However when I showed my little geeks the toys, screams of excitement were emitted, many jumps up and down were executed, and one little geek even started clapping. Windham, Ryder (2018). Star Wars YT-1300 Millennium Falcon Owner's Workshop Manual. United States: Insight Editions. ISBN 978-1-68383-528-8. I am pleased with the toy but I wouldn’t have thought to buy them myself. The small pieces do not suggest “fun” to me when I think of the large LEGO ships and big robots my little geeks usually play with. I was surprised how much they enjoy playing with a toy so small. I was even more surprised how I found myself at the kitchen table looking at each miniature over and over again with a smile long after my little geeks had gone to bed. There is just something “cool” about miniaturized toys. Make them Star Wars and you’ve got yourself a hit. But will they remain popular? I think not. In fact, I think this is going to be a fad and the market is going to push for consumers to be interested in it. Sure, they’ll sell, but I doubt we’ll be talking much about this toy two years from now. Of course, Mighty Beanz more or less throws my prediction in the trashcan, so you just never know. Regardless, if you are a Star Wars fan, you’ll be interested in at least taking a look at the toy. If you buy it, you’ll have no problem recreating some fantastic geek memories from your past and creating new memories to share with your young Padawan. Child Geeks, these are small miniatures you can set up for epic battles between you and your friends or just you and your imagination. There are lots of miniatures to choose from, from Sith to Droid, from Starfighter Pilot to Jedi Knight. There are also vehicles such as the Snowspeeder and the dreaded AT-AT! Adding in the “action game” seems almost unnecessary when you consider the unlimited play you will get just by using a small handful of miniatures and your imagination. An improved successor to the X-wing, the E-wing first appeared in Dark Horse Comics' Dark Empire series. They are one of few Expanded Universe vehicles to be a part of Micro Machines' Action Fleet line. [66] Armed with three Taim & Bak IX9 Medium Laser Cannons and two proton torpedo launchers, the E-wing's aerodynamic frame made the fighter highly maneuverable and exceptional in atmospheric flight. Its Class 1 Hyperdrive allowed for extended reconnaissance missions and rapid strategic redeployment. As part of a larger force, the E-wing filled a versatile mid-range multirole combat aircraft or light torpedo bomber.

United States: Insight Editions. ISBN 978-1-68383-936-1. For a Star Wars one-man fighter, the Naboo N-1 is truly original. Introduced in The Phantom Menace, the N-1 doesn't really look like anything else in Star Wars -- prequel or original trilogy -- and years later, that's what makes it innovative. It's clean, is a beautiful yellow and silver, and is rounded in design as opposed to the angular look of the original trilogy's ships. As a testament to the gifts of designer Doug Chiang, the N-1 seamlessly fits with the classic Venetian-style architecture of Naboo, creating a visual continuity that brings the planet to life -- and shows how much things changed once the Empire took over. As seen in the climax of The Phantom Menace, the N-1 is a fine starfighter in battle, and is one of the prequel trilogy's most famous craft. Limer, Eric (June 19, 2018). "Which Star Wars Ships Have the Best (and Worst) Aerodynamics?". Popular Mechanics . Retrieved September 9, 2020.Slavicsek, Bill (1994). A Guide to the Star Wars Universe (rev. and expandeded.). Ballantine Books. p.491. ISBN 9780345386250. The following is a list of science-fictional Star Wars starfighters. Within the Star Wars setting, a starfighter is defined as a "small, fast, manevuerable, and heavily armed starship used in direct confrontations between opposing forces." [1] In addition to appearing in the saga's movies and TV series, several LucasArts games depict the player as a starfighter pilot. IX: Executor, B-wing, A-wing (1995)". Star Wars Cargo Bay. Lucasfilm. Archived from the original on November 13, 2007 . Retrieved August 25, 2007. The ARC-170, the starfighter of choice for the Republic's clone troopers, is successful on many levels. Dramatically, it plays a key role in the opening of Revenge of the Sith, as clones dogfight in thrilling fashion above Coruscant, and protect Obi-Wan and Anakin in their mission to rescue to Chancellor Palpatine. Visually, however, is where the ARC-170 truly shines. It's simultaneously original -- bulkier than a typical starfighter, requiring three clone trooper pilots to fully operate the craft -- but also points towards the look of the X-wing, and as a result is a significant aesthetic bridge to the original trilogy. My little geeks are BIG fans of Star Wars, thanks in large part of their father being an even BIGGER fan of Star Wars. Although, I must admit that I still feel somewhat disfranchised about Star Wars as a whole since the release of Episodes 1 through 3. One day, Lucas will be made to answer for his crimes for letting loose Jar-Jar on the world. One day…

One of several craft that debuted in Return of the Jedi, the A-wing is the fastest starfighter in the Rebel fleet, and has become a fan favorite. It plays a key role in Jedi, as a trio of A-wings destroy the Empire's Super Star Destroyer during the climactic Battle of Endor -- including a classic moment, in which an out of control A-wing crashes into the giant starship's bridge, taking out several high ranking Imperial officers. Design-wise, it looks suitably sleek, with twin engines, no frills, and no droid slot -- the A-wing looks like it's designed for speed. Ultimately, a deceptively simple design that oozes cool. The Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptors, also known as "Jedi interceptors", made their first theatrical in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005). In the opening space battle, Obi-Wan Kenobi ( Ewan McGregor) and Anakin Skywalker ( Hayden Christensen) pilot Jedi interceptors on a mission to rescue Chancellor Palpatine ( Ian McDiarmid) from General Grievous. The craft's design was purposefully meant to echo the earlier Jedi starfighter and the TIE fighter, while its opening wing panels were influenced by a feature on Hasbro's toy model of the Jedi starfighter. [43] For filming close-ups of the actors, a single full-scale model of the Jedi interceptor was created. Since Obi-Wan and Anakin's interceptors were individualized with their own color schemes, each actor would perform their scenes separately and switch out, allowing the model to be redressed in between. [44] As far as “official rules” go, I don’t think Hasbro thought that far ahead. The way we play the game is letting one player set up their characters on the table and the other player puts their side in the plastic balls. Each character has one roll. After both players have gone, the player who has the MOST character’s standing at the end of both battles wins the game. We go so far as to set up the terrain and add walls. Think “Marbles” and you pretty much understand the game play. Not a very good game, mind you, but you should see how excited the little geeks get!
