The Blood Angels maintain close ties with their Successor Chapters, particularly after the Devastation of Baal. Great Conclaves of the Sanguinary Brotherhood are held to decide certain actions of Successor Chapters. [57a] Culture On Terra below, the Blood Angels went utterly berserk, their vision clouded by images of their Primarch’s final moments. They fought as if they themselves were the Great Angel in his desperate battle with Horus. In their madness, the Blood Angels were nigh unstoppable, swiftly turning the tide against the Traitor forces and playing a crucial role in the ultimate defeat of Horus’ ground forces. Though the visions eventually faded, Sanguinius’ death left a permanent psychic imprint within the gene-code of his sons – a flaw that still exists in every Blood Angel more than 10 millennia later.

Among the Chapter, it is customary of the mighty Blood Angels leaders to be accompanied by an Honour Guard of dedicated warriors. Its members are often distinguished individuals or the most accomplished Veteran Marines of the Chapter; warriors with full access to the armoury of the Blood Angels. As a result, the Honour Guard are normally well equipped and ably transported. Sanguinary Priests and Techmarines may be found within an Honour Guard, as can Standard-Bearers. When operating as Honour Guard for a Company Commander, one member of the Guard may be nominated as Blood Champion. [3] Honour Guard wear gold helmets. They apparently believe that it is in this slumber that they are one step closer to Sanguinius and seek to gain insight into the psyche of their forefather. [1a] Such is his experience that he was the overall commander of the Second Battle for Armageddon forces, given full command by Marneus Calgar and Tu'Shan. In the wake of the victory of the Blood Angels Chapter and their successors in the Tyranid Hive Fleet Leviathan's assault upon their homeworld of Baal, the Primarch Roboute Guilliman, the lord commander of the Imperium and Imperial Regent, declared Dante to be the lord regent of the Imperium Nihilus. This made Dante the effective ruler of the half of the Imperium cut off from Terra on the other side of the Great Rift. The First Company is composed of the Chapter's Veterans, warriors with experience forged in countless battles throughout the Imperium and trained in the use of sacred suits of Terminator Armour, while the second to fifth are the Battle Companies who carry the weight of the Chapter's combat duties. Heroic Sacrifice/ Dying Moment of Awesome: Revered above all the other Primarchs in the Imperium for his sacrifice. Perdition Pistol - In battle, Dante also wields the Perdition Pistol, a unique Astartes-sized Infernus Pistol crafted using technical knowledge long since lost by the Adeptus Mechanicus, making it an extremely powerful ranged weapon. Only a warrior as great and as loyal to the Emperor of Mankind as Lord Commander Dante is permitted to wield such a potent and ancient weapon. The Perdition Pistol was upscaled to properly fit Dante's now much more massive frame following his crossing of the Rubicon Primaris to become a Primaris Marine. During the Arks of Omen Campaign, Dante was the first high-ranking Imperial official to discover that Lion El'Jonson had returned after ten thousand years of absence after investigating reports of his return. Dante informed the Lion of recent developments in the Galaxy and that Roboute Guilliman lived. [17] Taking the Lion aboard his flagship Absolution's Ire, Dante and Imperial Navy reinforcements made for the Somnium Stars to rescue the Dark Angels and Unforgiven from the clutches of Vashtorr. [16a] The Sanguinary Ancient has gotten pricey, at 125pts, and is now one per army (which makes sense, really). He has the normal “small Marine support character” statline i.e. W4 A3, and of course a 2+ save. The Blood Angels have a whole bunch of unique units, owing to their long history and a legacy of having unique codex rules – over time they’ve acquired a whole Chapter Command of their own as well as 3 different Dreadnoughts, and now their own kind of Really Angry Intercessor to boot. The subsequent companies are 'Companies of Reserve', composed of squads with the same designation who often act as support for the Battle Companies, as well as provide replacements for casualties by the line formations: the Sixth Company is made up of Battleline Squads, while the Seventh and Eighth Companies are a made up of Close Support Squads, and the Ninth Company has a full compliment of Fire Support Squads. [40b] Finally, the Tenth Company is composed of the Chapter's scouts, aspirants who have not yet earned their place as full-fledged Marines of the Chapter. [40b] Go Mad from the Revelation: Absolutely loses it when he learns that Fabius Bile is planning to make a clone of the Emperor. Any Space Marine would feel the same way. Something that’s very important to 9th edition play is having a good idea of what secondaries you’re intending on leaning on. As mentioned in the secondaries section, Fury of the Lost and Relentless Assault are both very high-scoring, and building your list to capably take advantage of that can be a big help in getting the most out of Blood Angels – let’s see how the lists look to support that. Psychic Powers: While not as demonstrably prolific a psyker as Magnus or Lorgar, Sanguinius has shown the gift of foresight, the ability to use a force sword, telekinesis powerful enough to safely land a crashing starship, and a Battle Aura he put to good use while fighting Ka'Bhanda on Signus Prime. Conceivably ok for like, pushing an Impulsor into mid-field as fast as possible, but there’s not a ton of Blood Angels vehicles on tables full stop, never mind ones that aren’t Dreadnoughts or flying that also want to be paying 1CP to advance better.
