About this deal

Galaxy M31 is just as capable when it comes to video, with 4K video recording, hyperlapse, slow-mo and super-steady modes. In addition, it has a dedicated Night Mode for stunning low light photography. The 32MP front camera also supports 4k video recording and slow-mo selfies. In terms of brands, users of Android phones have the luxury of choice. The devices of two notable companies, Samsung and Google, are hugely popular options. The Google Pixel is renowned for taking great quality photos and comes with Google Assistant and Chrome OS. Amongst Google phones are the Google Pixel 7 Pro and Google Pixel 7a which allow 5G connectivity and an incredible storage stage up to 256 GB. The range of Samsung phones is vast, with the Samsung S21, Samsung S21 Ultra 5G, Samsung S21 +5G, and Samsung A12s as their offering. Amongst many improvements, this has an increased battery life and are 5G enabled. Some options also have PowerShare, which lets you use your phone as a wireless charging pad. More SIM free phones In addition, the 6.4” Infinity-U super AMOLED display combined with Dolby Atmos sound makes for an immersive and cinematic viewing experience. The noticeable yet random lag in the camera app was also a tad disturbing. There were quite a few instances when the camera captured the image a fraction of a second later, which is often what differentiates between a good shot and a great one. The perfect bird formation or your pet's expression could just pass by without getting framed.

something covered by our warranty (an "in warranty repair") or something not covered by our warranty The chipset does not appear capable of handling heavy-duty tasks and is not ideal for graphic-intensive games. My attempt to multi-task on the device while editing a small video clip appeared tough to handle for the phone, which went into a bit of a drag and performed inconsistently. Samsung has for some odd reason persisted with Exynos 9611 SoC. This is the same chipset that powered various other Samsung devices in the budget and mid-budget segment including the M31. We had expected some extra punch in the device given that it's an upgraded one. However, it must be said that the experience was way better compared to the Galaxy A50 that I tested last year even though both devices had similar chipsets and price.

Moving onto the glorious display, Samsung has really thrown everything at it. You get a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel, with the ability to reach a whopping 1500 nits of peak brightness and you can also dual-wield the complete 1440p refresh rate and 120Hz refresh rate this time. This display has few equals – easily beating the iPhone 12 Pro Max and rattling tough rivals like the OnePlus 9 Pro and Oppo Find X3 Pro. From browsing and gaming to watching videos and social media, the Galaxy S21 and its Exynos 2100 processor can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. Like the display, the performance is good enough that you won’t find yourself wishing you’d spent the extra money for that little bit more RAM or a Snapdragon 888 processor – you don’t need better than the S21.

I kid of course, I don’t happen to share the same disdain for the inclusion of macro cameras on smartphones that other critics do, and it’s fun to snap an artsy shot of a bug or a flower every now and then, but let’s face it, the real meat and potatoes are the ultra-wide and main cameras. If you’re looking for an affordable smartphone, chances are you’ve been eyeing up the likes of the Moto G8 or the Moto G8 Pro, but the Samsung Galaxy has them both beat on two crucial factors: battery life and the display. Furthermore, the aspect ratio of the Samsung Galaxy M31 is 19.5:9 so that you can enjoy vivid and crystal clear visuals while watching videos, playing games, or streaming movies online.. Video is also a bit of a mixed bag. Amazingly, the Galaxy M31 can shoot in 4K, but the 4K mode is incompatible with the camera’s in-built stabilisation, so you really need a gimbal to get the most out of it. While video stabilisation is available when shooting in HD, the process seemed to bring the fps rate down to a screeching halt, so it’s best avoided here. Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy M31? At 159.2 x 75.1 x 8.9mm and 191g, the Galaxy M31 is a hefty phone by modern standards. Having been recently accustomed to the lightweight nature of the Pixel 3a XL, the M31 felt like a mammoth by comparison. But with that extra weight comes a feeling of heft, letting you know that this is still a solid product, even if it is at the affordable end of the spectrum.

A High-Capacity Battery

Since this is how a regular user would use the phone, you can expect a similar experience. Apart from keeping itself charged for longer durations, the massive battery can power other gadgets on the go. The Type-C to USB Type-C cable that is shipped with the phone comes in handy for charging other gadgets in case required. But given how few phones this price have made the jump to 90Hz at the moment, it’s a forgivable omission. Performance and software – solid for the price, with a few niggling quirks

You can doodle, handwrite or just use the pen to navigate Android. This year’s main improvement is latency. A 9ms delay means the line you draw never lags behind the tip, for a more natural feel. Inside the Samsung Galaxy M31, you’ll find one of Samsung’s homebrew Exynos 9611 chipsets, a generous 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB via microSD. We’ve already seen this processor make an appearance in the Galaxy A51, as well as the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, and Android feels every bit as responsive in operation here, as it did on those devices. The Samsung Galaxy M31, although in the mid-range, has excellent performance thanks to its Exynos 9611 processor. In addition, it has 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage depending on the version. Note that this storage can be extended via a microSD card for a maximum of 512 GB. This provides plenty of storage to safely keep all your files on the device itself. A High-Capacity Battery Screen: 6.4in 2340 x 1080 OLED | Processor: Exynos 9611 | Battery: 6000 mAh | Camera: 64MP, 8MP wide, 5MP wide, 5MP macro | Dimensions: 159.2 x 75.1 x 8.9 mm | Weight: 191g | Charging: 15W What does this mean for real-world battery life? Well, you should comfortably hit two days of use on a single charge, with perhaps a little bit of wiggle room on day three, too. On a personal note, I accidentally left it switched on in my desk drawer for an entire weekend, and it only dropped 2% of its total charge (without a SIM card inside). Samsung Galaxy M31 review: CamerasThe S21 Ultra is, expectedly, blazingly fast. The new Exynos 2100 has closed the gap for non-US buyers who’ve often had to look longingly at the Snapdragon version across the pond. Battery drain woes are gone and you should be able to get a day out of this powerhouse – even with its awe-inducingly impressive display.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 is one of Samsung’s cheaper phones, but also one of our favourites. Why? Battery life. The Samsung Galaxy M31 has a huge 6,000mAh battery that will keep plodding along happily long after the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has run out of power. Having gotten accustomed to using the Pixel 3a XL’s streamlined and near flawless version of Android 10. Samsung’s custom skin feels very clunky, even if it’s not the worst out there. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra took all the key appeals of the earlier S20 Ultra, refined some of them and added the series’s signature S-Pen. This ultra-slim stylus is smarter than ever. That’s miles better than any phone we’ve previously tested, lasting 90 minutes longer than our previous winner, the Lenovo P2, which reached 28hrs 50mins under the same conditions. The Galaxy M31 proves that having a multi-day battery life doesn’t cost the Earth, and if you were planning on using the M31 as your main media device of choice, this unbelievable battery life paired with the phone’s AMOLED screen makes for a match-made in heaven. You could binge content for hours on this thing.

Galaxy M31: Price UK

S-series flagships rule Samsung’s phone line-up for the first half of any given year. But when it gets towards the end of summer, you know you need to wait to see what the Note range has in store. The Samsung Galaxy M range of smartphones are mid-range devices that offer really solid features for an affordable price. With a large 6.4-inch screen, the Galaxy M31 offers an undeniably immersive display experience. The Super AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixel resolution is ideal for video viewing and gaming. With a simple yet elegant design, the M31 also features a fingerprint scanner on the rear. Solid Technical Performance Camera performance is typical of a cheaper phone. Day photos can look great, night photos are not quite so hot, but the Samsung Galaxy M31 does have a Night mode to brighten them up significantly. And while the eye-opening 64-megapixel main camera resolution does not come with many real-world benefits, the 32-megapixel front camera is among the best you’ll find at the price. It’s great to see Samsung bring some of its top-of-the-line features and design down to a more reasonable price with the A52 5G and the 120Hz OLED display is a standout. 120Hz may be common ground at budget pricing for some rivals, like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro and more, but this high refresh rate is rarely paired with such a vivid display. While the performance of the A52 5G does fall short of phones from Realme, Xiaomi and Google at this price point, avid mobile Netflix and YouTube watchers should definitely consider this phone.
