I haven't read any of the others from the series, and save a couple references to characters and events, it read great as a stand alone. HOWEVER, being a history major, I DID really appreciate the historical monuments and facts that she included in the book, like the catacombs.

Also, the fact that Brandon got so jealous of the fact that Andre was giving Nikki attention was so adorable, and I hope that they (Brandon and Nikki) will finally get together in a book really soon. But when MacKenzie starts to stir trouble and invites old friend André to be their tour guide, the drama starts.
