Otra novela de Connolly, otra maravilla para sus seguidores. Misterio sobrenatural y amenaza inquietantes. Connolly blends several genres in his books effortlessly. His writing is often quite beautiful and lyrical. He really is a master of the written word. His books have plots and sub-plots that are woven so brilliantly together. He weaves the past and the present together seamlessly in this book. I love the inclusion of his deceased daughter's spirit and how she talks to him, her sister Sam, and in this book to Daniel. Elena Taylor is the author of All We Buried, available now in print, e-book, and audio book format at all your favorite bookstores and on-line retailers. After a year of anticipation the book did arrive and it took me some willpower to not drop everything I was doing and reading to start reading the new installment of this Charlie Parker novel. Which is quite a compliment if the 16th book in a series is that good and does not disappoint and actually makes you want to read the next book. I would absolutely live in a haunted house – I think I already do! There are lots of strange noises in our home, and we often feel that someone is watching us on the upstairs landing.

The Writer lives secluded in the woods with her old German Shepherd, Whisky. She only goes out to do talks and book signings at the local library. She suffers from amnesia as a result of a hit and run. And I can’t go to the hospital every day. I hate seeing him that way.” He turned to look at Parker. “So talk to me about something else.” Atmospheric, creepy and oh-so-compulsive, The Woman in the Woods is a chilling triumph' Fiona Cummins, author of When I Was Ten Charlie Parker continues to be a man who is troubled yet surviving. He has never gotten over the loss of his wife and daughter who were viciously murdered. He also has a daughter named Sam who lives with her Mother. Parker still loves Sam's mother but knows being with them puts them both in danger and this further adds to his angst and heartache. Charlie Parker is a private investigator who is often hired to solve cases which no one else can solve. He is often assisted by Louis and Angel but in this book, AngAsí empieza esta novela en la que Parker se verá metido en la búsqueda tanto de la identidad de la madre como del bebé si sobrevivió. The Woman in the Woodscombines a psychological thriller with paranormal events and a fabulous location. Review + Author Interview + Book & Author Info + Author Pet Corner!

Heather and Lesley’s lives had changed beyond belief during the boiling hot summer of 1976. A fatal mistake had turned the two girls’ entire lives upside down and both of their worlds had been upended. Heather and Lesley tried hard to leave the events of that summer behind them, but even after all these decades, the devastating repercussions of that particular day continue to linger and cause them both no end of trauma and strife. My father doesn’t come to me so much anymore, but when he does I’m no longer troubled. You know why? Because of you. Because I’ve seen things with you, experienced things that made me understand I wasn’t crazy, and I wasn’t alone. More than that, there’s a consolation to it, to all of this. I think that’s why I came up here tonight, and why I called you. If I lose Angel, I know I’ll find him again. I’ll tear this world apart before I do, and maybe I’ll die burning like my father burned, but that won’t be the end for Angel and me. He’ll wait for me on the other side, and we’ll go together into whatever waits. This I know because of you. I’ve hurt a lot of people, some that didn’t deserve what came to them and some that did, although the distinction meant nothing to me then, and doesn’t mean a whole lot now. I could have questioned what I did, but I chose not to. I have blood on my hands, and I’ll shed more before I’m done with this life, but I’ll shed it because I’m following a different path, your path, and I’ll sacrifice myself because I have to, because it’s my reparation. In return, I’ll be allowed to stay with Angel forever. That’s the deal. You tell that to your daughter next time you see her. You tell her to bring it to her god.” Concurrently, a very bad man named Quayle and his even badder girlfriend are on the hunt, looking for a pregnant woman named Karis Lamb. Clearly, they won't stop till they find her - and woe is anyone they run into who can give them any leads (or not). As the story progresses, a storm in Maine topples a tree in the woods, unearthing the remains of a woman who appears to have given birth before she died. Parker is called in to help with the case, but her identity can't be ascertained, there are no clues as to what happened to the infant and Parker has no awareness of Quayle and his quest (much less why he's so determined to find the woman). Fifteen-year-old twins, Duncan and Maisy, are sent to their cold and unfeeling grandmother after their equally cold and unfeeling father commits their unwell mother to an asylum. With no help from Grandmother, they have to settle into their new surroundings and find new friends. One of these is Grace Deville, a woman who lives alone in the woods and about whom some unkind things are said. When it seems someone is out to get her, she starts to feel unsafe and feels she must try and recall her memory to work out the truth. Not the simplest of assignments, but Charlie could use something to occupy his mind, as Angel lies fighting for his life in a hospital bed, and Louis contemplates losing not only his lover, but the last shreds of his humanity. I like that element of “this could happen to me”, and I think that’s what draws readers in. We like to be scared by the very ordinary. What can we find you up to when you’re not writing or reading? Everything I have read from this author has never let me down. I do always wonder if or when the book will come that I have to say, 'That wasn't for me'. The Woman in the Woods is not that book. One day, Duncan goes missing…the prospect of his return is diminished when boys of his age are found dead in the area. With the police not being exactly proactive, it falls on Maisy to stay strong and believe her brother will be found.
