About this deal

I always thought the point of Double Act was that the prospective step-mother, Rose, is A Nice Person After All, and that that was what the reader was supposed to discover along the way with the twins. But upon reading it again as an adult, I find out that I am Wrong. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the traditional formula was shunned by The Two Ronnies, who completely dispensed with the need for a straight man, and Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, two Oxbridge-educated comedians who used the double act to deliver satire and edgy comedy. Also appearing in the latter half of the decade were Adam and Joe, whose low-budget, self-produced Channel 4 series The Adam and Joe Show was a very sharp combination of TV and movie parodies and satirical looks at various elements of youth culture. Between 1950 and 1980, the most popular comedy duo of East Germany, Herricht & Preil, ran a very successful double act, with Hans-Joachim Preil as the straight man and Rolf Herricht as the comic.

Ruby and Garnet are identical twins, but couldn't be more different. They live with their dad and stepmother, their own mum having died some time before. Wilson is an expert at creating realistic characters and is probably the closest thing you can get to actual being inside a child's mind yourself. Una piazza per Franco e Ciccio amarcord tra vicoli e teatrini – Palermo – Repubblica.it" (in Italian). 11 December 2012 . Retrieved 14 September 2018.I like making up plays and I don’t mind acting them out when it’s just Ruby and me and we’re totally private and imagining it so it could almost be actually happening, but I can’t bear proper acting. She can’t do her dressmaking now. It’s a shame, because she did like doing it so much. But there’s one Amazing Advantage. We get to wear shop clothes now. And because Gran can’t really make it on the bus into town, we get to choose. In the end, Ruby apologizes to Garnet, and they both realize that they can still be together while apart, as long as they remember each other. Garnet leaves for school, and writes a letter about how much she is enjoying it. He brings a prospective girlfriend home without even bothering to discuss it with his daughters first (daughters who traumatically lost their mother three years previously). He then goes on to buy a shop, not thinking to take his daughters to see it first, or to even ask their opinion on a matter that has everything to do with them and will probably affect them the most. If you weren't already in awe of his selfishness, he even manages to dump his mother-in-law - who spent the last three years raising his kids for him - into sheltered accommodation. Alone. Read the Play Edition of the book and use it as a starting point for work on play scripts. Could the children perform the play?As the twins navigate their new lives, they struggle with their own individual identities and the difficulties of growing up. Ruby is shy and reserved, while Garnet is outgoing and rebellious, and they must find a way to support each other and maintain their close bond despite their differences.

Peter Cook and Dudley Moore were perhaps the first double act to go against the grain as turned their double act into a complex analysis of their relationship. In many of the sketches (especially the Pete and Dud exchanges) Cook played the domineering know-it-all (who knows nothing) and Moore the put-upon dimwit (who also knows nothing). Gran keeps moaning that the floorboards won’t stand up to all that weight. They do tend to creak a bit. Dad gets fussed then and agrees it’s ridicul DOUBLE ACT is a beautiful story of Ruby and Garnet written by Jaccqueline Wilson (@jacquelinewilsonfanclub , @jacqueline_wilson_official ). This story is written in the form of a diary entry of the twins Ruby and Garnet. After their mother Opal's death when they were just 7 Ruby and Garnet were looked after by their grandmother who they lovingly call gran and father Richard. Ruby and Garnet love each other very much and starts writing about themselves and events from their life in a book found at home, so that when in the future they become famous they can look at it. Look, you’re not writing any of that sad stuff, I won’t let you. This is me again. Ruby. Garnet’s just gone off, all humpy because I happened to scratch her a tiny little bit when I snatched the pen. I asked her nicely first. And it’s my turn now. You have to be able to take turns fairly when you’re twins. Italy [ edit ] Cochi e Renato in 1972 Ric e Gian in 1972 Ficarra e Picone at the 2010 Giffoni Film FestivalMany modern-day YouTube channels follow this format. Some examples include Smosh, Dan and Phil, the Game Grumps, and Rhett and Link of the YouTube channel Good Mythical Morning, We’re going to be famous too someday, you bet. So I’ve started writing our life-story already. It’s funny, Garnet is usually the one who writes stuff. Her writing’s neater than mine. So often I get her to do my schoolwork. She doesn’t mind. A lot of people loved Double Act by Jacqueline Wilson. Regarded by many as being one of her better written titles, it's still popular nearly twenty years after it was first published. This book is about two young twins Ruby (the lively confident one) and Garnet ( the shy quiet one). It appears that ruby is the twin that makes all the decisions and it is Garnet that follows her lead. Whilst the the two were young their mother died which resulted in them and their dad moving in with their gran.
