The book has all the holiday feels of food and family and music, with a lot of Clarice's quirk thrown in. I’m happy to report that not only was it entirely suitable I found myself laughing out loud at some of the perfectly painted family moments - and very pleased by the happy ending. Her work really grasped me as a child and made me realise how much fun literature could be - was just as fun being reunited with Clarice Bean as an adult! She is joyful and hopeful and energetic without being stupidly sentimental; she is funny and real in her disappointments and worries but doesn't give up.
