About this deal

As others have mentioned accurately, it opens up with zingy fresh citrus accord with some greenness in the background. If it lasted as long as ADG Profumo or Spice Bomb Nightvision EDP, it would be a daily wear during the summer for me. The clementine note in this fragrance is very realistic and is reminiscent of cutting open a fresh Halo Orange.

If any fragrance reviewer had said what I'm going to finally say now beforehand, I'd not have blind bought it. The mid-notes are lightly herbal and cottony - think of pottering around the backyard wearing a cotton t-shirt with the fragrance of herbs wafting to you on a late afternoon breeze rather than burying your nose in them - and there is a hint of something almost balsamic in the drydown.

The citrus has mellowed quite a bit but its still definitely the most prominent note here, the lovely sweet tang is still the first thing i notice with each whiff.

Edit 12/17: seriously what a damn fragrance, ugh as a freshie lover it’s just immaculately executed with an unforgettable opening. The initial spray is straight citrus surface cleaner and feels incredibly cheap, and the initial dry down had a strange powdery-herbal mix with a heavy "maturity" I didn't enjoy. What you'll have are two incredibly natural and uplifting scents to accompany you and elevate your appreciation for summer.

Very clean and fresh, starting with lot of orange, then, it gets smoother, fresh and floral with a nice non-powdery iris and some woods. The spiciness almost has a cooling effect, and there is a "rough" texture from one of the notes that I've only found in MFK Petit Matin and Dior Homme 2020.My only complaint about Varvatos and if I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times, they don't last. This sets an unfair expectation for what's inside, and the branding and name Artisan does little to help matters. In conclusion, this poor-excuse-of-a-citrus fragrance is suitable for nearly homeless men living in bungalows with leaking roofs. It is a luscious juicy burst of all the citrus fruits (though lime comes through more than the others), aromatic woods, and an animalic musk that, for a couple of minutes after spraying, comes off to me smelling like body funk, but it's not like an outright Stench, it just gives it this kind of feral quality for a few moments.

John Varvatos has some seriously underrated, beautiful fragrances in their lineup (John Varvatos, Vintage, Artisan, Artisan Pure). However I decided to give it a few more tries, wearing it at home after work, when my previous fragrance went away. It's likely they're in there somewhere, but I can't find myself caring enough to push past the core notes of a fragrance that resonates with me stronger than any other I've found. If you're concerned about the chemical smell, however, do yourself a favor and hug an orange tree sitting in the sun by the side of the road in the middle of summer before you assume something is wrong with the bottle. But due to the harshness of the opening, you should control your spray and apply many times throughout the day instead of many shots at once. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). The petitgrain gives Artisan Pure that neroli vibe, but it's greener and earthier and not as floral as neroli.
