Ensure that wooden surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from surface dirt and debris before painting. If you can see any area's that might want an extra coat, get that done before starting another whole phase. Existing surface coatings such as paint or varnish must be fully removed back to bare wood before Cuprinol Garden Shades by sanding or using a suitable paint and stripper. Its important than any preservative used is wax free otherwise the paint may not adhere to the structure. Its special pigments ensure a rich colour and allow the natural texture of the woodgrain to shine through.In situations like this we always recommend a test area before starting the main project to test adhesion. Wood preservers that are advertised as being waterproof and resistant to weathering often contain wax, oil, silicone or a combination of these. Any overspray should be cleaned up immediately (whilst still wet) with water and household detergent.

Garden Shades is a water based product, so an application of water and detergent should provisionally be used. Its special pigments ensure a rich colour and allow the natural texture of the wood grain to shine through.

With a wide selection of colours available you will be able to easily redecorate your garden to your liking. The product will still achieve good opacity in 2 coats over a similar colour, although deeper colours may require a third coat.
