About this deal

They are both just as effective as each other, the choice of which one to use is based on your preference. They are both short term fertilisers, only provided enough food for plants for 4 to 6 weeks. If you are looking for more long term fertilizers, which release their nutrients over a long period of time, then I suggest you read my article on slow-release fertilisers. WHAT IS FISH, BLOOD AND BONE FERTILIZERS?

Soil bacteria will use some of the fertiliser for their own growth and wellbeing, which will encourage the plant to develop faster and healthier. The formulation was developed ad hoc, with testing being a premium as farming lands were not tested individually. That is why a standardised approach was developed in the time of need. As it is made artificial the NPK ratio can be controlled better; the quote ratio in growmore is 7% nitrogen, 7% phosphorous pentoxide and 7% potassium oxide. When using before planting or sowing apply Blood Fish & Bone at 140g/m² and lightly fork or rake into the soil. When using this product as a top dressing apply at 70g/m² and lightly fork into the soil. Store in the original container in a cool, dry, frost-free place away from children, pets and foodstuffs.

What The Press Say

During the growing season, sprinkle evenly over the soil around plants. Gently work it into the soil surface with a hand fork or hoe without disturbing the plant roots and water in thoroughly. Where to use It is important to use the fertilizer when the plant demands it. Each soil has also a saturation level of nutrients it can absorb: when there is too much fertilizer in the ground the plants will not use it and the precious fertilizer will run off or leach. Soil bacteria use some of the fertilizers, in particular fish meal, for their own growth and well being which encourages early season microbial life. Fish, blood and bone has many uses in the garden from a general fertiliser, lawn fertiliser or as an addition to any container. It will help the plants in all of these cases. WHEN TO USE? I have used both products with great results and I have no preference. The application rate is quite similar. Less for fish, blood and bone and so you can save some money. The costs are roughly the same and so you are spoilt for choice.

REVITALISE YOUR LAWN – Fish, Blood & Bone replaces nutrients lost and revitalises grass, making for a denser sward and healthier lawn. A. Animals may be attracted to this product. Land where product has been applied should not be used for grazing or cropping for feed stuffs within the following periods (a) 2 months for pigs and (b) 3 weeks for other farm animals. As you can see both products have their own merits, and its use is dependent if you want to go down the organic route or inorganic route, With fish, blood and bone the ratio of NPK will change with the manufacturer and the batch made and so will provide NPK of different levels, which may not work as well for plants suffering from major deficiencies of these elements. Each batch that is made will be different and will depend on the manufacturers’ specifications, but ballpark figures can be used.

As the product isn’t a liquid, there’s less runoff and wastage too. 2) It makes for a Perfect Soil Improver/Base Feed This means you can use bone meal on its own in autumn to prepare the soil for next year. It has an NPK ratio of 3.5:18:0. Mineral uptake will be influenced by soil temperature, water content, pH and concentration of nutrients already present in the soil or compost. The fertilisers must be added when the plant needs it; too much fertiliser will not be uptaken by the plants but will run off and leach in the rain, and be wasted.

Can be used as a base dressing before laying new turf or lawn seed to encourage strong root growth. Here are 6 reasons why you should try fish, blood and bone fertiliser: 1) Gradual-Release but Not Slow-Release Fish, blood and bone can be applied before or after planting and promotes lush flowers, foliage and high yields of fruit and vegetables. Fish, blood and bone fertiliser is perfect as it fully dissolves in about 3-4 weeks and provides gradually released nutrients to the plants without burning them. Organic Fish, Blood and Bone Feed has been used as a garden fertiliser for as long as any gardener can remember and the balanced nutrient spread of this most traditional of plant feeds makes it ideal for use all around the garden. In a previous article, I talked about the various element deficiencies that plants can suffer from. To overcome these deficiencies, we need fertilisers that particular add the main macronutrients of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. Do not forget to feed your soil
