About this deal

Ask any professional decorator worth their salt how good Zinsser paints are and they will tell you that they’re one of the most reliable brands in the industry. With that in mind, Zinsser Permawhite is a no-brainer if you’re looking for a white emulsion that can handle the vigours of kitchen and bathroom environments.

Due to the fact that it’s mould resistant (I believe it contains a fungicide that inhibits the growth of mould), I would personally use this if your kitchen or bathroom struggles to extract moisture. I actually used this paint in my mother’s kitchen as she’s frequently boiling food on the hob and has a terrible extractor fan and it still looks great 3 years on. If you have messy children or excited dogs in the home getting their paws all over your paintwork then it would be a good idea to trade aesthetics for durability. Perfect Matt is Johnstone’s premium emulsion, designed to rival the designer brands. Available in white, or just about any colour from the vast range at Johnstone’s Trade. This emulsion is available online and used on interior walls and ceilings. Touch dry in around 2 hours, recoat time is approximately 4 hours, depending on conditions. This is my Johnstone’s Perfect Matt review. I hope you find it useful. Can be temperamental on extra porous surfaces, such as unsealed coving and filler, where flaking can occur. However, a primer can easily remedy this.Albany Supercover is a robust and reliable choice when it comes to painting over dark colours. I often turn to this when I need to transform a space with a fresh white finish. The paint has a creamy texture, which eases the application process, although I do recommend thinning it slightly to prevent tramlines. For all of your decorating needs, we have a selection of decorating tools and supplies. Whether it’s for a domestic or commercial project, find everything from abrasives to dust sheets. If your walls don’t need frequent cleaning, you can choose something that looks better but it’s quite as durable. I suppose it comes down to budget. If budget is not an issue and you want the best paint money can buy, then Johnstone’s Perfect Matt is the ideal product.

These compounds crop up everywhere, from fertiliser to cosmetics, and are better known as CIT and MIT, respectively. Some people are sensitive to these chemicals, so give yourself a while to acclimatise after opening the tin or tub, rather than rushing into a job you may have to suspend midway through. Unwanted Food or Drink Products - Once supply conditions are broken, there are a number of factors outside of our control that can affect the quality of a product. Therefore perishable goods such as food and drink cannot be returned. The consistency of Covaplus is ideal, providing an effortless application without the need for thinning. Plus, it offers flexibility when used on plaster, where it can be watered down as a mist-coat before using it straight from the tin for the top coats. While Dulux and Johnstones offer plenty of choices, arch-rival Crown’s contribution to our shortlist of the best emulsion paints is about value. Valspar Tough Matt is a superior choice for pure brilliant white emulsion, especially when compared with brands like Dulux Diamond Matt. It offers superb coverage and a pleasing finish. Just remember to thin it down and mix well before application, and you’re all set.Pro Tip: If you’re unsure whether a particular shade will complement or contrast against its surroundings, use a 30ml tester pot in an inconspicuous location (such as behind a sofa) before investing enough paint to cover an entire room. Applying Emulsion Albany Supercover offers exceptional quality and coverage. Despite a few minor issues, it’s a worthwhile choice, especially for transformations involving light shades over dark colours. It was my go-to before Covaplus, and it certainly holds a premium standard in my book. I did have to apply a third coat, could be because I didn’t use a Johnstone’s contract matt, I do think that if I was putting it over an existing white ceiling it would go in two coats. Not suitable for ceilings due to the potential for flashing with natural light (I recommend MacPherson’s Eclipse for ceilings) Some white emulsions aren’t as good-looking as others but are way more durable and can withstand up to 10,000 scrubs.

As always, the way you paint will depend on which emulsion you have at hand but there are a few tips you can follow to get that perfect, modern finish. Our trade paint emulsion is available in a selection of neutral colour choices ranging from pure brilliant white to magnolia and classic grey. With tin sizes ranging from 2.5L to 15L, choose the right size for the job in a range of finishes including eggshell, gloss, matte, satin and silk. Second coat applied, very good, smooth and silky too apply, and it does dry to very flat matt finish. this paint really is a joy to use.Anti-Reflex 2 in white and Macpherson Eclipse don’t picture frame, go patchy and I’ve touched it in without issue. The big difference the Perfect Matt is how white the paint is. I’m a big Anti-Reflex fan, but the Perfect Matt is definitely the crispest, bright white I’ve ever seen. Supercover delivers remarkable coverage, capable of completely transforming dark hues with just two coats. I’ve personally used it to cover dark red and blue walls with ‘Swansong,’ an off-white shade, and the results were phenomenal. Opacity is truly top-notch, which contributes to its powerful coverage capabilities.

The opacity is good too, better I would say than Crown and Dulux. When dry it is a matt finish as stated, unlike diamond Matt that has a soft sheen finish. Trade paint covers in fewer coats, has much better opacity and lasts much longer than retail paint. Crown promotes this emulsion as non-yellowing with a non-reflective finish. You’ll have to explore the broader range of Crown paints if you want different colours. SummaryThe Perfect Matt is designed to be touched up, up to 4 years later, but I would point out that I’ve never been asked to touch up a ceiling up 4 years down the line. In most cases the lady of the house will take the opportunity to redecorate the whole room.
