A. ‘State of Independence’ is such a powerful idea for me, I go into a trance when I sing it at every show I do…it was written in Paris. I walked into the studio, and Vangelis had just started the groove…he pointed to the mike, which was on, and I sang the song nearly word for word. Vangelis and I had this wonderful telepathy…pure magic… One of the most memorable lines from “The Friends of Mr. Cairo” is, “My house is a mile high, lying amongst the rainbows.” This line, along with others, evokes vivid and surreal imagery, inviting listeners to interpret the lyrics in their own unique way. 6. Jon and Vangeliswas the name for a musical collaboration between the lead singer of Yes, Jon Anderson, and Greek multi-instrumentalist Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou – known professionally as Vangelis. John Roy Andersonwas born in Lancashire, England, in 1944. At age 15 he left school and got work as a lorry driver and then a milkman to help make money for the family. His brother Tony, was part of a band called The Warriors, and John was asked to join on vocals. He was with the Warriors from 1962 to 1968. Anderson released two solo singles with little commercial success in 1968. That year he also met bass guitarist Chris Squires, guitar player Peter Banks, drummer Bill Bruford and reconnected with keyboard player Tony Kaye. The five musicians formed a band they called Yes. The band released a self-titled debut album in 1969. In 1970 John Anderson dropped the “h” from his first name, becoming Jon Anderson. From 1969 to 1978 Yes released nine studio albums. Their 1973 Top 20 hit, “Roundabout” was the zenith of their early fame. A. Ok!!…we are here to find the Divine ‘Light’ within…each being has the perfect ‘light’…enjoy the fullness of life each day…stay healthy, be kind and friendly, and shine your inner ‘light’ to everyone you meet, be thankful for the abundance of life, from nature, to all of life’s experiences, to the glorious sunsets, the stars and moon at night..the great mystery…flowers, birds and animals that surround us…and the amazing cacophony of the human consciousness that surrounds us each day……cheers….jon While “The Friends of Mr. Cairo” did not receive any major awards, it has been hailed as one of Jon Anderson’s most compelling and influential compositions. The song continues to resonate with fans and critics alike, solidifying its status as a timeless musical gem. 12. Are there any other songs similar to “The Friends of Mr. Cairo”?
